SGOTM 04 - Smurkz

@Methos:
So when should be available for playing ? I *might* have some time during my night (CET time that is, ~23h00) to play ~10 turns, maybe more.

okay. Let's open the bloodbath :D

Short turnset completed later on.

Main objectives:
* build Uni's in high-science city, whipped if needed.
* Make a move towards Karakorum
* Research MilTrad, hoping for good trades (Steel is already known by Hanninbal, NilTrad by Gandhi... My hope is that a clearly Military tech will get better value). Current guess is that the AI are on Constitution. We'll see.

Turn 301, 1466 AD
Some troops moves.

Turn 302, 1472 AD
Troops move again. Brennus and Isa are fighting. Hopefully she'll have some fun. Bad news from the science front: we are very late on MilTrad. I reschedule our efforts on steel, hoping for the best.

Turn 303, 1478 AD
Moves

Turn 304, 1484 AD
Genghis attacks Old Sarai with Cavs. We loose one pike and one berseker, and repel the assault after the 2 losses in a stricke-back. We need more Pikes (but this will be tough in the open).

Turn 305, 1490 AD
we kill another Genghis cav with our grenades. Reinforcements are on their way, so we might assault soon.

Turn 306, 1496 AD
zzz

Turn 307, 1502 AD
War weariness is a pain. I am whipping to reduce unhapiness (Uni in Nidaros/ST, Forge in Upsalla).

Turn 308, 1508 AD
We defend against another Cavalry. I'll pause here since I plan to attack next turn (and probably tonight).

In case you can have a look
the save

Sorry for the low input lately, but I am getting crashes again on my laptop :(
If someone can take over from the last save, I am currently reinstalling everything again.

It seems my laptop video card is not acting nice...

@zyxy: please skip me until I am able to get a stable system again.

@team:
it is even worse than that... I AGAIN do not have any of the automatic saves of the 3-4 turns I was able to play
I was at least hoping that this worked.
I am PM AlanH to check with him what to do about that... I clearly do not have any clues about what is happening here.

Sorry folks but that some bad news from my side. I do not want to not have Civ4 on my computer anymore, but it seems I have to find another computer to play it.

Sorry for low input but the week-end has been a mess.
After PM discussions with AlanH We agreed on me replaying those 3 turns on my home computer. I cannot access it as easily as my laptop, but I should be able to play these turns and the rest of my turnset before wednesday.

And then every thing should be fine again. I hope.

Ok turns finally played.
It reall only when your life is messy that you learn how it can be messier...

I did not kept a full description of this turnset, but we lost Old Sarai and plenty of troops to a Mongolian combined Cavalry/Riflemen force.
We do have a strike force close to Turfan that could be able to take the city in 1/2 turns.

I did my best to replay those turns as closely as possible as what happened forst time. At least my conclusion in the end is the same: we are in a pretty bad shape.

Hopefully Steel is arriving and might help us a little.

The Save

I guess we are no longer playing this ? I am on a trip now and would require a skip but that maybe useless :D

Not joining in SGOTM05 for the same reasons... Next time maybe ?

I don't plan to play 5 at all - I've regressed back to Civ3 lately. I expect my Civ4 interest to be re-kindled by BtS.

As far as this game goes - we're stuck in a never-ending war, still in a bit of a tech hole, and the actual destiny of the game would appear to be out of our hands regardless.

Sorry for not reacting sooner, but yeah, this game has become a waste of effort. I don't really mind the uphill battle, but the early dropouts and limited availability of the remaining team members made it too difficult to continue.

I'll pm AlanH that we're quitting.
