Here are the highlights and lowlights.

Kolhapur revolts to Cyrus ~T435.:sad:

I used the GE for Ironworks in Turfan!:D It cranks out troops every 2-3 turns.

I whipped some in stuff all over the place, buildings in conquered cities coming out of anarchy. Some troops in Budhist cities also. I whipped a Budhist Monastary in Aryan so we can spread where we want. Cyrus is spreading for us on big continent. :)

I lost West Bridge for a few turns,:sad: that's why there is Persian city south. Izzy landed 4 Cavs, 3 Cats, 2 Cannon, I whipped Rifles there and in Turfan but couldn't hold it. I think we need to build Cash buildings there now as it has a shrine, and we can build units in other places (that are Budhist) quicker now. I started a granary there so it will grow back pop quickly.

I thought about farming over the towns in Athens to run more specialists, but I couldn't do it because our economy is still so shakey.:crazyeye:

I was moving the GA west from Athens when he got hung up by losing Westbridge and some galleys. I was going to run 100% cash for a couple turns to upgrade some Navy right away. I already upgraded 1 of the C2 Caravels and took out some of Izzy's returning raiding party, and then I just upgraded another to try and finish it off.

I know I'm going to sound like a broken record, I still feel it is important to try and maximize tile use, and specialize cities. We have a couple Shrine cities that can supply us much needed gold if we build Banks, Markets and Grocers in them.

We are still fighting an up hill battle with the military techs, so Artillery is the obvious path, followed by Infantry.

We need a Rifle to move to the cat stack, and more Grens for the assault.

I thought about going Rep+Merc, but decided against Rep in favor of staying Police State, so saved a turn of anarchy by only switching 1 civic. I think we will be at war for most of the rest of this game, I think Police State is required for the remainder.

I think that after we take out Izzy, if Toku has artillery we might be hard pressed to deal with that if we don't. In which case a period of peace to tech up might be needed, for which merc+rep might be worth considering. Might need to go back to police state later, but do we need that science boost of mech+rep in the short term? Give it some thought ... don't have to decide until Izzy has fallen.

We should at least do Merc...no reason to do Free Market when everyone else is Merc, and when we'll be warring pretty much everyone anyway...nothing for those extra trade routes to do.

Representation is more of a grey area...it is worth it if we'll be peaced for longer than 10 consecutive turns between wars, otherwise, Police State is likely the better option.
 
I think someone should play today to keep this moving ... at least to finishing off Izzy (or a tech trade for peace if that looks lucrative ... but does she have a tech we need?)

I have had the sense that Lehm is less available on weekends, so would not be surprised if we don't hear from him until Monday.

C63 can't play before Monday, Thrallia has not played in a while, so maybe he should play today if he can and we don't hear from Lehm.

Otherwise, I could play today to keep it moving.

If we agree that we take out Izzy, then wait for artillery for next war, then we may need that run of peace at merc and rep to get that tech.

I am inclined to go for Toku after Izzy (after art if Toku already has it), as our border with him is smaller, easier for us to manage. Cyrus could attack us on so many fronts ...

Would our amphibious assault and raze strategy from SGOTM 04 be effective against Toku?

I played 10 turns to 416 (1851) ... we have a decision to make. I took Madrid and Lahore. About to take Seville and kill off Izzy ...

BUT ... there are only three rifles in Toledo (Japan)... if we leave Seville intact, we can run a quick attack, raze it, then we can keep Seville. Otherwise, Seville will revolt from Japanese culture.

And we could take the Japan city SW of Mecca. But then we have to withstand Toku ... not sure we are ready. His power lead is huge over us!

He has had physics all of these turns, so he may be heading for artillery already. We are far away from that.

Cyrus just asked me to cancel deals with Japan, and I did, as we have to keep Cyrus happy ... he has transports! :eek:

I am leaning to killing off Izzy, then consolidating to tech up to artillery (I went to mercantilism turn 457), as I think the Toku attack may backfire. But I thought I would put the option on the table to discuss.

Qin and Toku are getting chummy, do we have to worry about a DP there?

If we get agreement one way or the other, I can play more turns (maybe 10 more or so) tonight and turn it over to Thrallia.

I think you should take the chance and try to take out Toledo fast. We are Toku's worst enemy already, he will attack us soon anyway I would guess, especially since we will soon be sharing more border with him.

We are out of the laurels race, give it your best shot and see what happens.

As many as the plan is clear, I would say ... 20 at least, 30 is good. Not more than 50 I suppose.

I played up to 1869 ... turn 478 IIRC. In brief:

461 resume

467 war on Japan. Take and keep Seville, last of Izzy.

468 take and raze Toledo

470 whip the FP in Bombay

473 toku has destroyers :eek: He also landed art and SAM inf in small numbers, with some old troops, near Madrid. I had to upgrade cats to cannons and use up a lot of cats to stop one large stack.

475 Cyrus has destroyers

478 Finally put Budd in turfan (second try)

Oh, took that Japanese city SE of Mecca at some point ... a barb rifleman actually led the attack! :goodjob:

I got us stable at 50% science ... we are 3 to physics and 15 to artillery.

Toku will make peace for Seville ... he has cut off our ferry routes to get troops to the mainland, so we might have to take him up on that offer at some point perhaps. Take it back later.

He has a stack in ships coming at Madrid again. We now have plenty of cannons to repel him this time. If we let him impale himself on us, he will build WW and maybe give peace for nothing, then we can reinforce from our homeland.

My fear is that Toku is just messing with us with the old troops, and is buiding a SOD of infantry, SAM, artillery.

I think we defend as long as we can, make peace if something too big shows up, and get to artillery.
