A couple things I noticed about the save that you can address if you see this in time:

Stoneville's worker needs to be transported to the mainland when a galleon becomes available.

Ivoryville should work the plains hill adjacent to it.

OK. Looks like it will be when the Galleon finishes there. The three on the south side are ruinning Cats and Trebs and have one more run to make.

Just got a pop up that reads:

We currently have 39 Gold and are losing 69 gpt, I have to turn the research slider down this turn, it is at 70% currently. Our Great Merchant lands and moves towards Delhi this turn, so he is at least two turns away.

I consider this because we want some of Boudica's cities and it adds four gpt with our Confucian Shrine, so payback is 8 turns.

Update - Pericles has become a Vassal of Augustus.

That was interesting. Payback got even better. Confucianism was spread to Furville, Jute, Oporto, Coimbra, Bibracte, Durnovaria, Vienna and Aachen! Four of ours and four of hers!! :goodjob:
 
The Pericles vassalage to Augustus should make it less likely that Joao will become a vassal of Augustus also. Does Joao have a negative with Augustus because of the vassalage?

Yes, he is at -1, but he remains Pleased towards Augustus.
 
A Great Merchant was born in Ulundi. I have begun moving him west to send on a Trade Mission. Do we have a better use for him?
 
We now control all the cities we set out to capture. :D
Joao is ready to capitulate to us and wants to give us one of his last two cities and his map. I did not make peace, we can decide what to do. The rest is in the After Action Report. I will only include in this turn log those events not already posted.

After Action Report:

We have claimed all five of Joao&#8217;s cities we set out to acquire. Joao did not capitulate to Augustus, much to my surprise. He has two cities remaining and Joao is ready to Capitulate to us. He is offering the city of Braganza and his World Map, both of dubious value I&#8217;m sure. I decide to allow the team to have a look at the save before making a final decision on the deal. :deal:

I left one Galleon near Horseville in case we needed to transport anything. The other four Galleons are clustered just east of X-ville. There is a fifth Galleon, containing one Cuirassier, located south of Pigville that is headed for the others near X-ville. Two Cuirassier units are in X-ville and three Trebs are east of the city.

Physics is due in one turn. A Great Merchant is on a Galleon north of Lagos for shipment west to whatever city we decide upon.

Our Treasury contains 2,069 Gold and at 100% research we are losing 235 gpt. We have much work to do in our new territories!

I have to admit to CP that few Courthouses survived the conflict. I thought we would have at least two or three more. We do now control the Tao Shrine that we built in Coimbra.

There were several diplomatic changes as Charlemagne became a vassal of Boudica by capitulation through defeat. Pericles became a vassal of Augustus peacefully on turn 170, so he may break away in another 5 turns if he wishes. We can now see Gandhi&#8217;s info on the graphs in the info screen. We are a long way from seeing Augustus&#8217;.

I like the 4 workers you captured in Evora. Maybe we can put them to work in prechopping forests in Braga for Forbidden Palace. After Oporto's CH is finished, we'll have the 6 we need.

There was only one Worker near X-ville most of the turn set. The two southern most tiles to the west of the copper hill have completed pre-building their Workshops. The Worker from Stoneville has join in the effort and they are both working on pre-building a Workshop directly west of X-ville. I think there are two turns remaining, but to be sure, check the screen before ordering the build.

Our troop movements were fortuitous in Joao's area. I interrupted many a forest chop, especially near Lagos and Guimaraes. Before telling a Worker to chop, we should ensure the number of turns needed to make sure it goes into the build we want. I did not do any pre-chopping of forests in Furville, other than the one I stopped to move workers to Jute. The Worker at Furville spent his time building Workshops.

We may want to consider building a Worker or two at Canal-ville or one of the other less endowed hammer cities for service in our new territories.

Also, I have been thinking of how we can rapidly move our most experienced units to board Galleons. A ship chain through Horseville proved very effective in moving units down, could be used to move them back if we want to do that?

EDIT - I was just reviewing the save and noticed that Gandhi now has Philosophy, but not Paper. We need to keep an eye on him for Paper. With the second Merchant headed over, we should be able to maintain 100% research through Electricity, then Liberalism. But Gandhi bears watching, especially if he should trade Philosophy. :rolleyes:

I was watching for it, so I'm quite sure he must have just gotten it.

We also need to build two more Theaters for Globe.

No, there's a 66% chance that a courthouse survives (same as granary, lighthouse, and market). There's a 0% chance that a barracks or culture-producing building survives. Special buildings (academy, scotland yard) and World Wonders have a 100% chance.

If we want Taj in 10 turns, we should get a couple workers to chop 4 forests in Furville. We shouldn't wait too long because Gandhi can now research Nationalism (and he has marble). Also, if finishing the game in 35 turns is a reasonable goal, the tail end of our 24 turn golden age will be wasted if it starts too late.

The other thing we should consider is moving most of our slow units in Portugal west across the ocean, through Indian territory, and to the borders of Celtia and HRE. That's clearly the shorter distance. We could chop another galleon in Lagos to speed up the transfer. On the demographics screen, I see one AI with about 1/5 of our power. I can only assume it's HRE, as they were getting double-teamed a few turns ago. We should hit them while they're weak.

Most of the Cuirassiers could head back to our east coast by some combination of land and sea travel. If we move our medic axe in Coimbra to Braga, each of our wounded Cuirassiers can stop there until healed, and then each can move on its way as it finishes healing. We should be ready to declare on Celtia/HRE in 6-7 turns.

For techs, I was thinking whether we should spend 1 turn to research Chemistry after we partially bulb it with the free GS from Physics. There will only be ~800 beakers left to research. It would give our workshops +1 hammer and let us upgrade a caravel to a frigate (and build more). Then we can go for Electricity (6 turns), Liberalism (2 turns), and Radio (free). Gandhi is the closest AI to Liberalism now that he has Philosophy. But he still lacks Paper and Education, so it looks like there is no danger in losing the race.
