T178

I load onto galleons near X-ville: 6 Cuirs, 4 trebs, 1 Xbow. If we sail now, we can land units at Gergovia on turn 180 and/or Bibracte on turn 182. Reinforcements will arrive turn 183, 184, etc...

I haven't seen 1 spear or pike in Celtia. I think it's time to strike while the iron is not (making pikemen). I can finish my set tomorrow night.

Yes. I've been keeping tabs on techs every turn, and I can say that he just got Paper this turn. We should be safe for Liberalism->Radio.
:goodjob:
He seems to have picked them up fairly quickly. Did he bulb with a great person? Can't tell his research pace, but agree that we are probably safe to go for Radio via Liberalism.

EDIT - Hope you enjoyed your dinner. Off for

Great priests can bulb towards liberalism!!!!! I'd hate to lose it because we forgot that.

I didn't see any GP born to Augustus. He could have traded for Philosophy with Gandhi or Joao.

Augustus is about 4300 beakers away from Liberalism. Best AI has a GNP in the mid-400s IIRC, and that includes culture and espionage, so it's less than 400 beakers per turn.

Great priests can bulb towards liberalism!!!!! I'd hate to lose it because we forgot that.

After Gandhi gets Paper, his Prophet would want to bulb Printing Press.

Augustus is pleased with Ghandi and I was worried he'd trade paper to Ghandi. Good to know there's at least one other thing in the queue before liberalism.

So I haven't heard any opinions on starting the war with Boudica.

One idea is to start the war on turn 180 by landing part of our force next to Gergovia, and landing another force next to Bibracte on turn 182. Taking Gergovia on turn 181 (or turn 182 if unlucky) would give us a place to base 4 airships that could soften up the defenders of Bibracte (including a tough LB). Galleons emptied at Gergovia could chain reinforcements to Bibracte. There is a galleon in Pigville right now with 2 Cuirs, and 1 more Cuir that will hop onto that galleon. I'm thinking of landing 2 trebs and 4 Cuirs at Gergovia (since it had 3 defenders at last check), and 2 trebs, 2 Cuirs, and a Xbow at Bibracte. 2 trebs and the frigate should be enough to take down Gergovia's defenses in 1 shot.

I assumed that we would start as soon as we were ready, and it looks like we are... :mischief:

I think this is a reasonable approach. I'm not sure you'll have four Airships available once you take Gergovia? Perhaps you should consider changing the build in Ivoryville to Airship? I think you'll need as many as you can get to hit Bibracte and that CG3 LB.

I do not really like the idea of waiting too long. Let's go! :hammer:

Sorry, I've been occupied with RL. Looking good, especially Gandhi's build and GProphet.

SCT, post if you haven't played (still waiting until tonight), and I'll look at the save and see if I can be helpful.

We could get 4 airships from Braga (1) X-ville (1) and Ivory (2).

The whole point is to finish as soon as we can, so....:hammer::sniper:

Some probably largely unnecessary suggestions:

You have two hills available adjacent to Bibracte -- consider unloading units on both of them to minimize utility of Boudica's cat.

After wkshp in Braga completed, start chopping.

After chops in Furville, suggest create 2 grassland workshops and use them plus two beavers.

After Cuirassier in Jute, suggest move citizen off plains workshop onto watermill until city grows.

BTW, I can find no explanation of how airships work either in the manual or in-game. Is there a write up somewhere?

Do we want to keep Durnovaria?

By researching Communism before MM, we delay obsolescence of AP. If that's not a risk, then Com (and State Property) first would seem the way to go.

Like the attack plan, especially the reinforcements coming from Pigville to deal with contingencies.

I can't find any good guide either. Here's what I know:
1) Airships can rebase to any of your cities (limit of 4 per city).
2) They can perform recon (range of 8)
3) They can attack units in or out of cities (range of 8 and damage limit of 20%)
4) They can be shot down by machine gunners, AT infantry, SAM infantry, destroyers, fighters.
5) They cannot defend themselves, so they are destroyed if their base is captured.

Do we want to keep Durnovaria?

It doesn't contribute much land but it's also cheap to keep when we're in State Property. I think we can decide after my set.

I believe the AP is only obsoleted when the owner knows MM. I remember games where AP votes were still going on alongside UN votes.
