SGOTM 09 - Smurkz

Agreed. If we go by our usual first-post-order, we have:

unkle: playing
Niklas: on deck
Methos
Xcalibrator
r_rolo1
Renata
ChrisShaffer
Backwards Logic
CommandoBob (not yet checked in)

So it seems unkle should move the scout!

Should we maybe try some test games first before we jump into the real thing? I doubt there'd be any impact on the first few turns, but I'd feel a lot better getting the general game plan ironed out before we do too much.

Naturally - I was hoping someone would take the test saves I posted and do something with them. I'm ready to start playing with spreadsheets... if Niklas will post his most recent version updated for Environmentalism.

Tomorrow night, I should have time to make the test save properly so there will be barbarians. Apparently, if you edit the techs in the Worldbuilder, it kills the barbarians, but if you edit the text file directly, they will still appear.

Regardless, I still think we should move the scout 1NW right away, then discuss.

Looking forward to the save. :)

I didn't know that AlanH had already created the Team Threads.

My BtS skills are still rather weak, but I'm working on that.

This might be a first for Smurkz, Niklas would know best, but this is the same team from :bts: SGOTM 08. Never happened in [c3c].

I'm with XCal, I admit I haven't fully recovered from the excessive warfare from last game. How about we play this game as a nice and peaceful environmentalist garden of eden, free from strife and war... eh, maybe not.

I also as always have 14 other projects stealing my time and thought capacity, not the least Renata's highly immersive NotW game. You should tell Methos and BL to kill me there so I'll have time for this instead... :mischief:

I'll try to put a hand to the spreadsheet later today to add environmentalism. But like Chris, I actually believe we were relying a bit too much on sheets for last game. I love them in my solo playing, and I do think they are great for a game like this - but as shown by last game, that requires that everyone is fully participating in its creation and evolution. That won't happen - especially not with a sheet that can't run under OpenOffice - so we need to rely a bit less on those and a bit more on "pure" discussion, and test playing. I'll still maintain a sheet, and I will gladly share it to those who want, but I won't assume that everyone will look at it, which should give a different focus to the discussion.

I will also be a bit busy in general up until Monday, not gone completely though but I will have less time. But unkle should definitely move the scout first thing, and upload a screenshot so we can decide on the next course of action.

I now have Parallels and Excel on my work laptop, so the newer spreadsheet is ok for me. I'm willing to regularly post a read-only openoffice version so others can play along. I just don't have the most recent version to get started.

I actually agreed to be the head :whipped: person, turnset summarizer, and roster-keeper for this game, but I don't have a post near the top of the first page. Is that something AlanH can remedy, can Methos do it for us ( :p ), or should I just live with the less than ideal location of my first post?

Looks good to me ! Of course, I could "lend" you my first post (means you would need login/password, which I do not really care about, but which also could be messy if you post after that under my name :D
Anyway, if some admin here could tell us if we have other options....

Must say I am also quite buried in "stuff", quite burnt by last game too, and I am not so sure I'll be able to play before Saturday, 28. And there is no way I'd have played the test sent by Chris before that. So if we think it requires a skip, fine with me. If not, I'd be online Saturday late to play 1-2 turns if people are on IM, and can be active on Sunday too.

Since the game will be quick, we should be fine, but I'd rather not delay our start :mischief: We know we are not the fastest SGOTM team around

They will be available tomorrow. I can definitely play half a turn tomorrow, early evening :-)

unkle, all you have to do right now is move the scout. Not even a complete turn. It will then be a week before we move the settler!

Oh, then this will be a quick game!

I just checked and we can revolt immediately without settling.
:groucho:

I just checked with my wife and I can revolt her without waking.

The spreadsheet updated with Environmentalism can be found here: http://www.box.net/shared/8yug7rqh99

I'll keep working to implement some of the missing features, like Golden Ages.

I've updated the sheet with functionality to allow for Golden Ages. Link is the same as above.
