Regarding stuff to build, such as during Zaki's spare turn: Missionaries! You may recall that part of the OrgRev revolt was so we could spread Confusion to our other cities? ;) Cities such as Panama, which we hope to be a GP farm, where it would be very handy to reap the benefits of Pacifism? Or Greenland, which may become a big production center, and where it would be nice to get the 25% build bonus from OrgRel near the end? And rememember, we can only have 3 missionaries per religion at a time. Sorry, I'm tired and need to drain off the sarcasm I've accumulated during the day. :rolleyes:

Otherwise, everything sounds great! Can we sell our map and get some gold for Paper from other AI? And weren't we hoping to encourage the AI to get Printing Press for us?

That was my suggestion yes, but I fear rolo doesn't take me seriously when I talk about gifting things to the AI. :shake:

Gifting paper to the AI will not encourage them to get PP, it will encourage them to get Edu and then PP ( maybe even after Economics ). If you are going to gift to get PP, better give paper + edu :p

P.S And while we're at it, what to tech after lib bio? Niklas has been proposing electricity, others go Astro ( far easier now after wang trades )... anyway, probably the best thing to do is to get 0% until the end of the GA atleast, no?
 
Yes, very good idea to go to 0% on research for awhile. I'd go for Astro next--more trade and it opens up 2 new beaker-multipliers for Zaki to build, which is otherwise running out of stuff to make. Next, probably Elec. Looking farther, how do people feel about Democracy, so we could build the SoL and get 9 more free specialists? We'd need Printing Press, though, and given our tech rate maybe we don't need to bother. Once our 3 river cities get on their feet we'll need Steam Power for levees.

Bummer about the missionaries--we had a chance to covert Joao but we probably can't spare more than 1 now and won't have time to build more than 3, I'd guess. Panama needs one and Greenland, too, since there's no chance for spontaneous spread there (since it has Taoism).

Can we squeeze more out of slavery? Our 4 new cities (Phishing, Greenland, BLville, and Panama) could all use one or both of lighthouse and granary. And are we settled on Bonanza to build Hanging Gardens? Would it be possible to chop a forest or two to get us close enough to whip HG before the GA ends? What about Athens? It has a forest that we must chop to get the irrigation system going, plus another nearby.

I don't know what to do about gifting techs. It would be nice to get that free Merchant from Eco. It seems that Wang is the AI tech leader (?)--should we put all our espionage points on him so we can see what he's researching? It might help us decide whether or not we need to tech things ourselves.

I wouldn't whip HG, whipping wonders is generally bad. Bonanza isn't growing quite that fast that we can be careless with its pop.

I'm ok with Astro next, getting +50% more in Zaki is a nice boost, and it'll give you all some Frigates to play with, keeping you happy. :p

About slavery.... I think we can whip some useful stuff out of some cities. greenland does not support more whips for now and panama and BLville are still too small to whip them in a useful way, though....

Yes, but speed may be critical. And we get 9 pop in exchange for whatever we whip away in Bonanza (or Athens??). And remember that if we don't finish before the GA ends then it'll take even longer because we lose the extra GA hammers. Chop if you can.
 
If HG can't be finished during the GA, then it would probably still make sense to take advantage of the whip and 25% OrgRel bonus (if the city has Confusion) to whip out the aqueduct. Chopping is still desirable for speed and to get the 25% bonus.

I definitely think that any plan to get HG requires most if not all of the wonder to be built during GA, in an already converted city, with potential chops or whips (if doable).

If not, at least getting hammers into it now would make the gold we get if we miss it good for researching at 100%...

On techs after Lib/Bio, I'd go Astro since I doubt the AI will have it in a reasonnable amount of time. I do not think we'll see Wang's research in time, that would have been great to take an even better decision though.

Before playing, and in case someone wants to give a opinion....
-The HG issue. we don't have much woods to chop in Bonanza that are unpreserved, but the fact is that the city will have growth issues even with bio farms in those plains, so it is not expectable that it can work all the forests even if preserved. I am generally against chopping at this time of the game, and our civics are pretty much against it. OTOH, the reward of getting +1 pop in every city may be worth the effort.....
-We have 4 cities without confu... it is highly unlikely that we can get 4 missionaries in the next 4 turns. Do we risk only 3 and pray for a auto spread?

P.S João menaced us with his fearsome pikes :p

Go for 3 missionaries, but make sure you finish them before we switch out of OrgRel. Send 1 to Greenland, another to Panama. Hold the one in Panama until we really need it for the Pacifism/GP bonus--perhaps we'll get lucky with spontaneous spread. Not sure where to send the other--see if you think it might be enough to tip Joao to Confusion.

On HG, check out Athens, too. There are 2 forests around there we need to chop for irrigation and it may have more pop to spare than Bonanza. If you go with Bonanza, chop now if it'll give you enough to whip HG, otherwise whip the aqueduct and we can chop forests for HG. Obviously I am in favor of being aggressive in going for HG, but try not to complete the chops unless/until it's clear we can win the HG race. (How badly are we going to need more health, BTW?)

Put esp all against Wang (so we can see his tech progress).
 
Ok, played until the end of the GA ( haven't revolted back to Caste+Pac ) ... I think this is the best stop point for now. We have a all confu empire now ( the RNG was kind on our missionaries (4/4) ), the NP is done ( BTW we have 2 forests to preserve in cap, since we got a forest spread in there :woohoo: ) and Oxford is on the way.

In this turn wang is avaliable to sell us MC + aesthetics, but we can only trade Natio or Edu for it. Given that I expect some discussion on that particular trade, I decided to not do it and leave it to the team. Our EP spending is focused on wang, but it will take a big while to get enough EP to see his research.
