SGOTM1 Announcement Thread

Hi everyone, and welcome to the SGOTM Announcement thread.

The general idea of SGOTM is for competing teams to play a Succession Game based on a GOTM scenario. Anyone can play, and this month in particular the game has been selected to give people a gentle introduction to SG play.

This time round the Succession Game of the Month is revisiting the first ever GOTM where the teams will be playing as Persia on a small map at regent difficulty. No modifications to the original game have been made and no downloads (other than the starting saved game) are required.

The game will start on the 7th April, so sign up (either individually or as a team) by posting in >>this thread<< , and above all, have fun :D

Here is the start position.

To support a greater variety of gameplay styles, this month sees the introduction of scoring bonuses for SG's played to the listed variant rules.

Always War. Scored as a Monarch level game.
Five City Challenge. Scored as a Monarch level game.
One City Challenge. Scored as an Emperor level game.

Teams who abide by the RBCiv Exploit rule set will receive a bonus of 7% to their score. (Yes I know it's a funny number).

Demonstrating the ability to win by more than one victory condition on the same turn will earn the lucky team a 10% bonus to their score. Note: Domination does not count for this bonus (so there :p ).

The individual team threads will be posted on the day of the game starting along with the rosters.

5CC is a Five City Challenge. You can only have five cities at the end of each turn. OCC is One City Challenge - you're only allowed one city at the end of turn. AW is Always War. You have to declare war on every civ in the turn you meet them and be at war with them at the end of every turn thereafter.

Fun ways to make a challenging game impossible, as far as I can tell  But it looks like I'm about to find out first hand for the first time. Your best bet is to do some research on these variants in the SG forum and in the war academy and see if you'd like to try one. If so then sign up for that option and learn as you go.

I will post the rules for all these variants in a thread. I think we're going to need it.

My personal preference for the AW variant is that you are allowed to enter a diplo screen with each civ once only and the last thing you do b4 exiting the screen is declare war. This allows you to delay war declaration by a couple of turns at the risk of having to handle your one and only trading opportunity IBT (if they contact you).
