SGOTM 10 - Team Liz

Wow!! Great game!

It was a pleasure to play with you guys! I lerned a lot and had much fun! :D

Let's have another shot in SGotm 11?

If we can't, I just disqualified us

A Team finished in 650 AD. My guess is that Klarius will finish around 550 AD. I haven't finished looking, but I don't think anyone else is in the hunt.

i see klarius is t 500AD with Klarius up... they are still outside the stronghold and have the north to get rid of.
our date was 590... i would guess the will beat us by a few turns... but maybe they have some injured cavs... or not as many as we did..

Its just after 5am and I had to get up to see if you'd finished [party] .

Well done guys :goodjob: , guess I wont get much work done today trying to read the other threads :mischief:

Thankyou Gyathaar for a very interesting scenario:salute:

I just had a short look at team Klarius' thread. I'm not sure if they can beat our date. I suggest we do not stop posting here so they cannot be sure that we have finished and just try to beat A-team's 650 AD :D

What surprised me was the following statement in the turnlog:

...Turn 9 (490 AD): Moved settler incidentially in the wrong direction. It was on barb continent, it matters and was really just a misclick. Since it was at the beginning of the turn, I reload; raze New Anasazi...

Is reloading okay if you had a misclick? I think I would play twice as fast if I was not so concerned to spoil my effort by a unmotivated tremble... :hmm:

Tough to see, how much more luck they had with leaders. :(
Tough to see how much more luck we had with wonders :D
Great Wall in Barbie's hands is not too amusing - paired with giving them metallurgy for that reason would not make me feel much better :p

So guys, let's keep this thread alive, I think it was a mistake by A-team to promote their victory date. I think we would have been slower if we had not known...
Good thing we did not keep our pace from the start.

I took a very quick glance at their save. Klarius is basically at the same point I was. I doubt he got as good a hand-off from the previous player as I did :D but I can't believe it will take him ten turns to accomplish what I did in four. :crazyeye: And he does have armies to work with. :(

This is the second SGOTM in a row where I had the priviledge to play last and got an absolutely amazing setup from the previous player. :bday: :thanx:

:hatsoff: to both of you.

I'd be pleased to be a member of this team in #11.

The comment from Roland is indeed surprising.

Edit: metallurgy is no big deal, since the barbs don't have salt.

For future reference, you should not reload for a misclick. There's a fuzzy line between a misclick and a mistaken move, and we have no independent objective method to distinguish between them.

Thanks Abegweit for finishing (i was awaiting my turn in horror :D ). You guys have played supremely while i was on worldcup vacation. I haven't looked at the other threads yet, but i understand we're still the fastest. :)
Even if Klarius beats us, i'm more then delighted we've beaten A-team. (I was sure they would beat us). So fingers crossed and hope team klarius get's a lot of bad luck ;)

Congratulations. I think we were at roughly the same point at 550 AD, but you guys had oh maybe 80+ more cavs. Well played.

Read through Klarius thread - in retrospect our main improvement may have come if we had done quicker rep research. I 'fess I for 1 advised min research on republic. Armies might have been helpful too

Now to look at other threads (I pity other teams trying to wade through our posts) :mischief:

I've looked at klarius' save and noticed 2 caravels. I suppose there's little chance of winning within klarius' turnset if there are settlers on those caravels. He has no means of sinking those caravels, so the settlers have to make landfall within say 6 to 7 turns. Otherwise he can't possibly wipe out the good Dr. within 9 turns.

another thing guys... keep the posts up here... but dont stay on rival teams pages too long... they could see who is viewing their thread... hopefully they dont notice on of us browsing about

You can just log out before browsing other threads ;)

If did a little comparison on klarius' and our 500AD save.
In 500 we had 98 cavalry of which some 52 were on barbaralia.
Klarius has some 58 cavalry (incl 3 armies) and 2 knight armies, of which some 42 and the 5 armies are in barbaralia.

Our advantage are more cavs, better production, prioritising the cavs and last but not least having MoW. Klatrius has confined the barbs to a smaller area.

Again I think the fact if there are settlers on board those caravels could be decisive. That would in a funny way make Abegweit right that our fate could be decided by naval force
