I just hope I can duplicate my moves and get the leader again.
Wow! One of those times when you find out if your memory is as good as you'd like it to be. :D :goodjob:

I usually use the units the computer gives you. I just had to remember when I deviated. Luckily, I only made one deviation move.

Nice work Bugs, let's keep it up and forward, gang!

Roster check

Sanabas - got it
Bede - frothing at the mouth
JB - admiring the work
Scout - Dude, did you get the job?
Whomp - sweet set
Bugs - sweet set

Sorry guys, I need a swap for this one. I have my C3C disc, but the civ3 disc is in one of the boxes in the garage, I need to go on a search mission for it, it will take a couple of days.

I got it, i got it. Ooh, boy I got it.

Two turns in in three hours - Egypt DEAD Russia DEAD

Whipped out a bunch of settlers Continent almost covered. Piling up cash for spy missions.

I'm playing a solo game and captured the ToA. I didn't think much of it until the boundaries of my outlying cities started expanding thier boarders. Looking at the culture charts it seems obvious that a few teams build that sucker.

So I've followed the Bugs plan to the letter, but now have come to a sticking point.

An attack on the French will brings us to war with Ragnar and Otto. And frankly I wonder if we are ready for that, given Viking bombers and the risk of facing German Panzers with cavalry (makes me feel like Polish Sausage).

The alternative is carry the war with Lizzie into her homeland using RoP across France. I have settled all the available land at home so settler pair incursions by the French should not be much of a problem. An alliance against the English is available for two luxes, a map and 75gpt (about 12% of our income). One of the advantages of this plan is that we can then use our cash flow to make a tech steal every five turns without having to plant a spy in France, Germany or Scandanavia should England be foolish enough to invade France. There is a comfortable route across the water from the east to Merrie Olde England for transporting our settlers and further reinforcements once we make some inroads into English territory.

The thing that concerns me about war with France is we will probably not be able to hold anything we take without a lot more units than we have right now. Not to mention the cultural risk we would face. France is the cultural Great Pyrenees, we are not even a Teacup Chihuahua.

So I would abandon the former Egyptian town to its fate and go whale on Lizzie and Abe for awhile.

I can be at the gates of Oxford (the closest English town to our shores) in three turns using the French rail net

I am not going to make a commitment to this plan without having a feel for what the rest of you fellas think.

I prefer starting on the Americans or English first for toehold. Then we can work on the beasts.

@ Bede - I think your plan is absolutely solid. Go for it. We can handle Lizzy.

I think I have a quorum and a plurality. So off we go to Oxford - white flannels, punts on the river, red headed barmaids...ah, gilded youth!

Blew up Oxford and burned the town....and its neighbor!

Lost a cavalry in the process and England spawned Wallace, and I am curious what he will do with him (I lost track of the trooper in the move on the town east of Oxford's rubble and he got whacked by a couple of English elites. Otherwise no casualties in the battles)

The important news

Picked up 250 tiles settling the rest of the continent. Not the most tidy job, but we now control all of it, without any culture at all, or hardly!

And of course the plan:

1475_000.jpg

We now have spies in Scandinavia, France and America. Tried planting one in Germany in 1460 but got caught, so we are now at war with Germany (who doesn't have Combustion yet, so no Panzers for Otto, quite yet). Learned this when I stole Refining from the Viking, and of course we have a ton of oil.

In other activities I set a bunch of workers to automated wetland clearing and others are building mines and such in the Iron Works town.

I would hold off settling in the captured lands until we have cleared a cultural buffer. I know it runs the risk of the enemy settling there, but I don't want to lose towns to the French or Germans that way.

I (ab)used the whip unmercifully so there may be a few angry citizens but in general all is peaceful and prosperous. The SPHQ kicked another 125gpt into the treasury but did little for shield loss. The east is going to have to run lots of cops to get any troop production out there.

I would whip infantry out of the smaller towns as soon as they have 50 shields in the bin. Most of the fleet made it back home to the east coast, but a frigate was lost to an English Man o War, and a galleon was sunk by the enslaved frigate. The French have destroyers in those waters but haven;t been much help.

Lizzie landed two of the Light Brigade in the far east, Tokyo I think. They charged into the teeth of our artillery and died to the guns.

The Save

Well done. can you guys wrap this up before it gets back to me?

There used to be a turkey smilie. Looks like it went away.

Any way, Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I hope everyone has much to be thankful for. I know I do.

It isn't measured on who has the most culture or most points, but rather who has the fastest finish. They may already be complete. It is hard to tell.

Sanabas - Did you find your disk dude?
Bede - cleaning up the drool
JB - Still admiring the work and concur w/ the plans
Scout - Dude, did you get the job?
Whomp - sweet set

Happy Thanksgiving to all! You're a fun crew to play with.

Three years ago I started going through some neurological problems and thought I had about two years to live. Two weeks ago I was hiking 8 miles a day through Iowa hunting pheasant. Today I had a great meal w/ my wife and kids and am looking forward to eating half of an apple pie. Ya, I'm thankful even if I do look like Shrek! :)

Happy TD to all!

@jb - take a look around and see what kind of buildings are going up and decide if it makes more sense to mobilize the economy. If all we are doing is working on filler stuff, I would mobilize. Honestly I forget what was going on where as there are a ton of towns on that continent.
