SGOTM 11 - Wotan

I guess there is the question of tech trading, how firmly should be hold on to our newly aquired techs? In three turns we get philo with luck Monarchy will also be ours. I suggest we keep checking the AIs for signs they are close to aquire any techs we have and trade then but if we are still holding a monopoly hold off until as many techs as possible are available for trading before trading. With some (lots?) luck we could get into MA by trading wisely.

ok my 2 cents

Micromanagement
Agree with Wotan.
First order of business should be bringing water to the sheeps. Also the division of the tiles between the cities needs to be improved, we let several ressources lyong around there.

Military North
We can sacrifice the warrior any time during the next 3 turns. o lets just see what the horsemen does, there is a chance that he will disturb the factory anyway by movinginto a worked tile and we would have sacrificed an valuable Piece for nothing.

Military South
Lets not be to timid there, there is a new Archer produced next turn so the danger is very small.

Technology
choose Monarchy when we reach Philo, and revolt from the big picture.
When we don't get Philo as first Civ. lets stop and rediscuss things.

City Placement
Lets stick t the plan and settle ext city on the horses.

Tech, do not, repeat do not revolt from the big picture. We want the production to run for that turn so the Settler is built. Revolt when the game give you control of our assets.

how are our chances if the horseman moves on the grassland and we attack with the warrior? reasonable chance of success?
I do not think he will stop there, AIs tend to use all MPs so either he attack Z. or move on to another tile. Will probably not attack the lone Warrior on top of the mountain gems but could try for Z. so I would be more comfortable if Killer move the Archer back to help protect Z.

Move Bapedi warrior to Z and disband. Now do I change to the goats on the same turn as I disband or before or after.

I will also follow the rest of Wotan's suggestions from page 10.

Tech:

Continue till Philo, then if we are first take Monarchy and then revolt after i have control. And then go with Lit
If not then we have some things to discuss.

Settling:

The first settler from Z is going to settle on the horse.

Let me know if I've missed anything.

.
Just change to the goats now so we get 3 food per turn, 9 food mising so with 3 fpt we are back on track to get a settler in three turns (with the disbanded warrior). Just follow the spreadsheet! There is an abbreviated version with the settler/archer sequence posted prior to Schmiddi's turns.

Reminder: We need something to guard the worker roading the landbridge, warrior plus archer should be OK. I have mentioned it in my discussions after Schmiddi's turn set. (Later we exchange them for HMs.)

Well problem is we don't have these kind of force right now. And whenever we build it, some barb come up somewhere and changes our focus. lets hope that gets better soon.

@ killer:
Did you see Tims and wotans suggestion about the worker in Ulundi?

Sure , but sending a worker alone on a mission outside our cultural borders are not advisable. We sure need to send an escort. Within our territory we have some waring and can react so the urgency is not as high.

I am half way through and came upon a trade option that I figured I should ask the group because it involves a gov't.

1st Turn:

Did as planned.

Barb horse died attacking Z

IBT:

Ottomans building Temple of Artemis
Egyptian building Pyramids

2nd Turn:

Destroyed S Barb. Camp
Sent Archer in search of N Barb. Camp

3rd Turn:

Learned Philo and Monarchy
Found N Barb. Camp

4th Turn:

In Hlobane switched to a Settler, but Archer was seven turns so we can switch it if need be.
More southern barbs.

5th Turn

Killed some barbs but both S and N archer is at 2hp. Cross your fingers that we don't lose them.

Koreans have Curr. but want Monarchy and 20gp for it without haggling. But we have to part with it for Monarchy at least. Do we go for it?

I wouldn't see a special point in keeping Monarchy from them if we can get a required tech from them. Just try to sell Mon around to everyboy who still has something sizeable to offer, after you tradedit to the first AI.

PS: Are we in Anarchy yet, and how long?

My primary worry is the note about a production switch during turn 4. We should be in anarchy on that turn if you followed the plan to revolt after getting control in turn3.

I guess I would gamble on keeping Monarchy a while so we can do a major trading round with hopefully most of the remaining techs in AA. Have you checked to see if anyone looks close to getting Monarchy? Poly hasn't been around for so long so chances are we have at least your turnset to keep the monopoly.

Thats why I asked.

Good Point on keeping Monarchy secret, might net us Construction & CoL too.

Hey all,

We are in anarchy as we speak, I just wrote down the settler because I wasn't really sure if I should build it or not and I wanted everyone to note that so that it could be switched if needed.

Don't know how long in anarchy, because I dont have the game open. I will finish up the turns tonight.

Thanks

Later

You sure do know how to create a "cliffhanger"...

You had me scared for a while there.

hello guys,

I know we all have live apart from Civ and we want to discus things in detail before playing, but right now we are doing 5-7 days per turnset, and thats far to slow for my liking.
If somebody is short for time, just ask for a skip or swap or a 5 turn set.

At the rate this is going, it brings zero enjoyment too me, because everytime, I have thought myself into the game, I just wait 4 days, and have to start freshly for next turn.
