I followed your thread since the beginning, while periodically checking the ducks. This SG turned into a really fascinating experiment: can a large, intensely cooperative, obsessively analytical (> 4400 posts

) team, playing a super quantitative game, beat two civ giants, playing with greater autonomy and a more qualitative style? Up until basically a week ago,
everyone on the forum thought the ducks had it in the bag. I was rooting for you guys the whole time (and also in SGOTM 11) because I'm an obsessively analytical guy myself, but I admit, I had basically given up hope after the ducks posted a T261 win a while back. Your whole game, and especially the last two weeks, was a
heroic effort, and without everyone's contribution, I doubt you could have squeezed out the 1-turn margin of victory. Great job!!!
By the way, your thread was by far the most fun to read, for three reasons:
i) the frequency of posts ensured that there would always be something to read

ii) the level of analysis, participation, and creativity transcended everything else out there, and
iii) your team dynamic allowed for both vigorous debate and enthusiastic cooperation.
It was also fitting that, though some dropped out in the middle, (almost) everyone came back for the final push. Too bad LC couldn't be here
