That's 27 frigates, and 1 ironclad. 10 tiles are cratered, 2 cities shelled down to size 1.

I'd say yes, this game will take forever to finish. Probably better abandoning it and starting new SGOTM.
Team Klarius already finished it and there's no duobt they will win this SGOTM

If Team Klarius is already done (how do we know for sure?) then we are fighting for Spoons. If they have already finished I guess we can resign our position.

I think it is time to admit defeat, the map and the world war vs us has eliminated our ability to win this. I think luck had alot to do with it too, depending on suicide ships for contacts was a bit chancy. Sure, we could keep surviving for a long time, but that isn't winning. I'm ready to concede.

Yes, I think we will never launch, i.e. we might concede.

Otherwise I would have to ask why we don't have defensive units in our cities to take the hits and prevent pop loss.

A unit can absorb bombardment, yes. But once it is red-lined, the bombardment then procedes to the usual things to be destroyed. With being plastered by 50 enemy ships, 4hitpoints doesn't go far, and we are already paying a fortune in unit support for the troops we have. When the war snowballed, we lost. The rest was inevitable.

If we want to try the give away cities for peace approach first, then go ahead. I would rather go down fighting, but it does look hopeless.

The problem with giving away a city for peace is that we'd have to move our military units out of the surrounding tiles creating a landing spot for those AI we couldn't get peace with.

AFAIK, there are no Galleons in range to land there. I say try it, what do we have to lose? Do it as many times as possible, it will at least clear embargoes and alliances out, they'll have to renegotiate them all. Our reputation matters not in our situation. Also, if we grab the town back the same turn, there will be no defenders.

As I can't really play with 25+ min IBT times I'll go along with those who would be the ones to play. That appears to be concede.

If we're going to give cites for peace and grab back to try and clear the alliances out, try and pick one we'd lose least buidings in.

I'm sorry but I cannot get motivated for this anymore. I know I suggested this strategy but right now I do not think that is going to make any significant difference.

Unless anyone else wants the turnset, I feel we should concede.

I have PM'd Tao and if we don't get a post or reply, I will assume he is having difficulties and will forward our concession on 06/25/08. If any one has any last minute thoughts or does not want to concede, please let us know. I hope to get this SGOTM over with to be able to start another with this team, with a far better result.
