SGOTM 16 - Fifth Element

So chop chop road with first worker. Then farms.
Second worker starts mine on forest/plains/riverside/hill. Then a farm.
Chop around Orleans on turn 58, 59 and 60.
Paris will whip settler after two chops, slow build worker, build warrriors while growing, whip library turn after hammers from mine comes in.

Orleans founded on turn 33. Oracle finished on turn 60. 9 beakers into tech after the oracle tech, 25 gold in bank. Paris size 4, Orleans size 2. Settler moving to third site. 6 warriors, four on spawnbusting duty and two garrisons. Settler will cost us 2 gold for having so many units.

Thumbs up!

The weakness I see with that strategy, is that Paris will not do much after building library. Size 3 with two scientists. Choping a third forest, may allow Paris to stay at size 4 and grow to size 5, but will slow Orleans.

Still, what I have above is pretty much the best I can produce. There were some misses in the micro. I missed to put research to 0% after Orleans was founded.

It might be better to not improve the wheat, it is a close call.

Still, I will give you one day to give feedback on my strategy, and if you do like it I will make a new PPP to follow the it.

I'm happy Jean-Luc Picard approves of my plan. =)

Looks good

I hope Blubmuz and ZPV, can compare with their runs so that we know how much and what we sacrifice for the earlier oracle/settler/warriors.

unclethrill, BSPollux: do you think I should go ahead and make a new PPP at once?

After the longest workin' day ever seen, we got the details :)

It's a good plan, which follows ZPV's strategy of writing first. My plan is less tight even if somewhat weaker in terms of research and strongest in terms of development and safety.

But since you (team) - in a way or another - like best ZPV's strategy, go ahead.

BTW is ZPV still alive?

Folket, that is just amazing. Lets hope it carries out as planned! t60 oracle is very good :goodjob:

You should post a PPP of the next 10-15ish turns with detailed worker moves.

The Paris at size 3 is not a good idea though. We should start producing scientists a couple turns later rather than stop Paris' growth at size 3. After all we want to grow cottages there soon.

Each turn we delay scientists at Paris delays oracle. Perhaps not having scientists for some turns after 59. But at that time Paris is size 4 and has 3 surplus food.

Current PPP
worker turns
t22
Move to NW of Paris
t23-25
chop
t26
move to W of Paris
t27-29
chop
t30-31
road
t32-34
farm on FP

Warrior moves
5 moves west, then turn in a circle and go east while exploring. Plan to spawnbust at gems.

Paris,
First working farm, then FP and 2F1H when size 3.
t25
grow to size 3, start settler
t30
whip settler
t31
start worker
t32
take FP and plains/forest/riverside/hill from Orleans.

Orleans
Only working FPs.
t31
settler moves up to hill.
t32
settle and start warrior

Empire
t22
research pottery
t25
revolt to slavery
t32
set science to 0%
t33
set science to 100%
t34
Get Pottery and start writing

I found a variant where a revolt on turn 25 produces Orleans on turn 32.

I updated the PPP with the t32 Orleans plan which I believe is superior.

There are a lot of variant that have not been tried yet. Slow building settler or slow building library could be interesting.

I tried to whip the second worker and it worked better then expected. Had an turn 61 oracle with Paris at size 5.

Updated with which squares the cities are working.

Removed typo in PPP.

It seems like most people are happy with the prospects of my current plan.

Shall I play the remainder of my turns tonight?

Then we need to know who is up after me as well.

It's a good plan according to ZPV's strategy. Since this is the chosen strategy, i think you can proceed.

I purposenly did not made a roster. Volunteers for next one? There's not much to discuss, only to try to shave some hammer, beaker or worker turn here and there.

Folket, to optimize the binary research, i think it's better set it to 0 the turn the settler arrives in place and keep it to 0 also the following turn.

Looks good enough - I'm around but not really able to contribute for a few days - so don't wait for me.
