+Top 5 cities/Wonders and Religions screen

The things we are looking for:

Soldiers - can help us determine whether Mansa/Hammy is in game.
Approval rate - any CHAR leaders?
Land area - viability of the GLH, CRE leaders (T3)
GNP - maybe FIN leaders (haven't tested this)
Prebuilt cities/wonders
Founded religons
Specific settings such as Low/High sea level, Cylindrical/Toroidal/Flat, Temperate/Arid etc.

EDIT: LOL!!! FIRST IN SPAM!!!

Yeah, noticed that too! Kings of spam even if only for now. This game is a resounding success already! :king:

there si also an information that we don't have: do the game propose a settling place to the settler?
It usualy make decent settling places including some idden recources...
I'm pretty sure those blue circles are placed without regards to hidden resources, though without code access and with very slow internet connection, I won't be able to proof it at this moment.

last game, i had a circle and 2 recourses i couldn't see were on the outer BFC.
Since that time, i concider those things with mutch more care...

Slow internet notwithstanding, it appears you're right. Fogged resources are taken into account as long as you've got the tech to see them (ie, it won't take bronze into account, but will notice the happy and food resources) Source

In other news:
DwarfSleepy: Would you be so kind to post screenshots of the Demographic, Setting and Victory screens on turn 0; and another screenshot of the Demographic screen on turn 1?

Will do when I get the save on Friday :) Speaking of which, I'll be able to pick up the save after 8pm CET on Friday, if it has already been posted that is.

 but your source thread also concludes by saying not to trust the blue circles, because the testing showed it was nonsensical... I for myself never use them in my games, but might be convinced by a better thread than the one above...

1) Depends on what we find. Could be gold or silver, but even something like a PH sheep. Of course also depends whether warrior finds something on the tile 1E of corn. Likely nothing there, but you never know. In any case, supposing that 1E tile of corn yields nothing, a settler move 1NW wouldn't lose any of the interesting tiles (corn, 2N, FP) but maybe for the GH. It'd be a bit of a gamble that may pay off, but at worst would only lose us a turn. And maybe a hill. Speaking of which, where would the 3rd hill be if this is a standard start?

2) Either SIP or move onto that hill... (or NW :p) I actually want to see that hill on T0 to at least warrant a move on that hill in case it's resourceless.

Moving the Settler 1NW also leaves the one grass riverside tile free if we decide to settle on the tile we just moved to. We don't have (see) many of those, so better not settle on it unless..

I was referring to the post by r_rolo1; the test done in a later post was not conclusive IMHO. If I can find the time, I will do some tests myself.

I did some testing and even if I put three gold in the fog, the blue circle stays put, it simply doesn't move to include the gold tiles. Problem is, even if I unfog the three gold tiles, it still doesn't move to include the gold tiles....

I'd say we just ignore the blue circles.

I think the issue here is that the AI totally overestimates the value of food over anything else. Same thing happens inside cities when the governor stupidly wants to work grassland forest/non-financial coast instead of a grassland hill mine...

I thinkone of the key things to suceed on higher levels of civ is not to let the AI make the decisions for you. Simply because it's stupid and can't take nearly as much variables into account as a human can. This applies for city locations, city micro, automated workers (which even come with the "suicide syndrome"), automated builds etc. The cost of this, however, is that game becomes less convenient and far more micro-intensive. :D

Changing the gold with corn did change a thing though

Well, common wisdom holds that blue circles are unreliable at best, so if they would show up when selecting the settler after our warrior move, I think the only good that will come out of them is our spam count. :mischief:

I like 1N with warrior first. Then discuss what we see to decide what to do with settler.

My question isn't about how we go about winning but how do we prevent AI from winning while we need to tech to FT1? It would seem that we need to be in a dominant position as soon as possible to combat any sneaky AI victories.

Too early in the game to discuss seriously but not long ago I played a game as the French. From early on (once I knew I had horses) decided to utilize 2 move musketeers with knights/cuirs and it was awesome.

I set up a google e-mail account (maplesporks@gmail.com) that contains a document for tracking movements & actions of our troops. Any of us can edit it or do whatever (even simultaneously). I just threw something together for now but we can add other sheets or whatever we need. I'll PM the password to everyone.

I hope to get cracking on the start of a test save (in BUFFY) tomorrow night.

thanx for the test.
I learned something today ^^

I'm going to be repetitive - nukes.

Once we have access to them, the AI just can't win any of the victory conditions:
UN/Religious victory - just nuke the crap our of their cities to lower their pop.
Culture - nuke and raze their legendaries.
Space - wait for them to launch the ship, then nuke and raze their capital (which effectively destroys their space ship.

Hey Norvin, nice idea with gmail! However, after I entered and wanted to send a message I got thrown out due to "unusual activity". Now it's asking for a phone number... I'm not sure this will work out if we all enter with IPs from different countries.

I can see the picture: CIA rookie: "boss, I have some unusual activity on a newly created Google account. I think it's some kind of virtual Al Qaeda cell. They're loging in from all over the world, using the code name Louis. They're talking about taking over the UN and nuking the whole world!"

Good news, everyone!

I got lucky today and bought myself 2 more GBs of RAM so hardware problems should be solved for now.
