SGOTM 19 - Misfit Gypsy Nuts

Pretty sure no one needs my "wisdom". ;) Just some thinking material.

I agree, Ronnie1. One of the lessons to be drawn from last game is that we need to manage/plan our great people production better. Exactly how to do that, though -- that is always the tricky part. But at least we know we need to focus on this area more and improve.

And I don't think this would count as any great secret. I am looking forward to the actual team threads opening so we can start team discussion.

Or else you could just start them out with Hereditary Rule, since that seems to be how it works at MGN.
Of course it is, we started, after all, as the Gypsy Kings

aj, aj, he's our man! If he can't lead us, nobody can!

It is good to see all the familiar faces again. da Vinci, I don't think we have played together before? I rejoined the team last SGOTM after a long hiatus. It is good to see you with the team, and I look forward to playing this game with all of you.
(R1 always has a 2 or 3 keystroke abbreviation for everyone ... time for a guess) H21, I don't think we have played together in SGOTM. I am the guy with lots of questions an no answers!:lol:

(was I right, or was it HH1, or 2H1, or hap, or haz?)

I got used to "haph", mentally spoken put as hap-h. :)

Haven't thought of it ever before but for you polyglots with an inkling for abrevs I won't be opposed to n8 for myself. ;) However, I don't like N8, it looks like Dv. Just not right.

h1's test got me thinking though, could it be done even faster? The answer is yes.
Ok, I was wrong, it's h1.:hammer2:

I was a very active an passionate Civ4 player in ancient times, but I remember hardly anything. To be honest, I fell in love with 5 the minute it came out, please dont hate me for that. And even that I stopped playing a while ago, when Europa Universalis became my new love.
BSP, I like Civ 5 as well (once I got over the initial disappointment), not as a replacement for 4, but as something different (please don't ask me which of my children I love more ... and don't make me choose.).

A buddy of mine is a Paradox fan and we dabble in that too, I am trying to get my head around Victoria II. Learning curve is steep.

Total war (Medieval, Empire, Napoleon) are other diversions.

But my break from Civ a while back came from getting sucked into the Black Hole of Stronghold Kingdoms. First (and I suspect last) MMOG for me. Fun, but huge time suck, had to buy speed of play to be competitive, and something odd about a game that keeps playing when you are not there. A learning experience, kind of like the six months I hung out with the Amway crowd decades ago.

As opposed to haph = "haf" :mischief:

n8 ... if the 8 gets lazy and falls on its side, then its "n-finity"

I don't see how N8 looks like Dv ... which isn't a problem anyway since its dV

dV (or is it dv, DV, Dv :crazyeye:)

right now im playing civ4 realism invictus if i play any civ. but all the cheap steam sales distract me :D

I'll answer to pretty much anything with an 'h' in it. Whatever is easiest.

And Pollux, I totally agree on the Steam sales. I have so many games already, but have still picked up another dozen or so in this latest sale. (So far....) Creeper World 3 has turned out to be tremendous fun, if you like tower defense type things. Lots of time sucked into that one, and I have not even tried the community made maps yet.

Just now I get nocho's (or n8's) point. He didn't think I was Dv, and he didn't think "N8" looked like "Dv". He meant that N8 would look as wrong as Dv would ... dumb me :hammer2:

(That is why we have to be so careful when it is my turn to play ... )

Glad to have you on board Ororo!

There was some discussion in the sign-up thread about the relatively low number of players signed up for this SGOTM. With Ororo on board (dedicated lurker) we will be a team of 8 - more than any other team. I am also a 'dedicated lurker'. I'm not sure if AlanH considers this pertinent information.

I think my skills count for -1, so that makes us a team of what ... six? (or maybe four, given two lurkers?) :mischief: ;)

Still busy testing and tweaking :)
Played the start like half a dozent times since yesterday.

I'm realy curious how everyone will do it.

Realy excited right now!

Hey guys! Tahnk you for the friendly welcome - I really appreciate it. Sorry for not posting this earlier but I have just come home from work :)

Please allow me to introduce myself:

I am a law student currently residing in Czech republic although I originally come from Slovakia.

I have been playing civ 4 for quite some time now and feel pretty comfortable on Immortal difficulty. I am by no means a deity level player and have won maybe 2/3 games on that difficulty using "standard settings".

I have already played 2 SGOTMs for the Maple Sporks team with nocho. This time, however, I probably won't have the time to actually play the turnsets since I have only just started working for a law firm and would like to make a good impression (meaning I need to work my ass off :D). On the other hand, I will try to provide some input as frequently as possible, especially when it comes to foggazing, grand strategy and specific beelines.

That kind of sums it up; if you have any questions I am more than happy to answer them. :)

Sounds like a pretty good addition to our team to me. :) I am only an Emperor level player myself.
