I count 32 temples with another 33 in construction (may be off by one or two... I have trouble counting that high:p) With a settled Gpro in Rome, that takes us to 69 total.

Is this the bottleneck to get 70 temples? War wouldn't help, as we'd need to wait for revolts. But could we trade Paulopilis for a city that could whip better -sending mish to the new city instead? Might also be able to buy a city? Probably just a crazy thought. No need to worry about it if we can get the 70 temples and double religions without it.

Double religions is essentially done. All but Paul with miss on the way. If spread to Paul does not work, giving to Nappy may best option. Checking now where the quickest spot to get a 3rd religion would be if that fails.

I count 32 complete and 30 build-able assuming we can get 2 built in both Vinz and Paris. If we have to give up Paul, that adds 1. So 4-6 more spreads. If Vinz can even get 1 temple we should obviously keep, thinking now that the fort idea will work out better than whipping a galleon there. Turns out we can build a fort, at least on tile with no culture, while in revolt. Once it comes out we should be able to sail the armada through.

Pop growth hopefully keeps up with the temple whips for vote. War with Louis only if we need votes by liberating cities to Nappy. Though need to decide in the next turn or 2.

Need to look at more closely - more to follow...

Pop at end of turn T is used.
On turn T+1 we whip a bunch of temples.
At end of turn T+1 results of are published.
After pressing "One more turn" we will see the whipped temples and they will count for the 70.

No, I am pretty sure that is incorrect. At end of turn T vote is taken = leaders decide where their votes will be cast - not reversible no matter what happens.

At end of turn T+1, votes are counted based on what is actually there at T+1. Note, this is why its possible to be in common religion for Friendliness during the vote, but switch after the vote to the AP religion and have your votes doubled. You can also infect after the vote on T (before results on end of T+1) and increase your vote count. So it is almost certain you can/do decrease your vote count by whipping on T+1.


Whoops, I think I misunderstood you. But the answer is the same: your decrease in votes occurs when you apply the whip, not the next turn when the buildings appear. But if you can spare the pop then the temples will have to count.
 
OK. I think you are correct. Played to T177.

Mostly went well, but 2 Hindu fails in Paul means that we will have to give the city to the Louis. Did get Nappy to swing to Hindu. But Chucrhill infected London with Hindu throwing the count the other direction. We are now at 74.5%. Thinking we have to attack Louis and take Lyons and gift/liberate to Nappy. Checking the save in and taking a break after micro-ing every city all morning.
 
The main issue for the post 7-8 turns has been balancing whips, spread, temples, and vote population. I will try to estimate growth v whips to see if we get to 75% by the time of the vote. Other ideas are appreciated.

3. louis possibly taking one of our or nappy's cities for votes/temples.
4. raze of lyons is also problem to the max 75% limit, gifting a city to a vassal screws the temple count.

Should cancel all health resource trades to Louis to impede his growth, maybe same with happiness. Should be able to ingest Brest from Ankara by prepositioning the galleon, but this is no net gain. Very dicey with auto spread... does closing borders to Louis help prevent?
 
Well it was very, very close. Had some good luck and some bad luck. Autospread to nappy/cherborg was a help, but Louis had another spread. And it got to the point at T-2 to vote results that we had exactly the number of votes needed:

I decided not to try for open borders proposal and picked the other proposal.

Whipped the last of the temples that I think make 66. Did not whip the spare for fear of vote count. We needed 577 to win we had 578 before end turn.

Louis was Hindu already so I am not sure if it would have helped.

It was a very difficult balancing game of hammers and food to get pop and temples right at the end. Back and forth on the spreadsheet. We definitely over built units. Had well over a hundred units at the end, of which I used very few. I started to delete them, but saw that cash was not an issue, so just let the rest their weary feet. Those hammers could have gone to the AP, spread missions, and temples earlier.

All that said, I think our real problems were early on in waiting to take on Suli and trying for the Oracle MC and then switching to HBR. Looking forward to see how other teams approached it.
