I will go look for BUFFY log now.
edit, nah I will be lazy - someone please tell me the default location. ;)

Next couple turns:
Switch to Bureaucracy and Hereditary Rule
East Army heals in Munich
South Army captures Oporto

Big question is what tech to research?
And whether to trade for Calendar.

After army healed, it will need to head to Istanbul or Russia. That and VC path are key questions, but don't need to be answered to proceed.

I like Metal Casting. It puts on the RR path, at least. Triremes would be nice in next war. I'd also make the HR/Bur switch now. Stay in slavery.

Stay in slavery.
You expect us to keep whipping away unhappiness as our armies rampage across Asia?

exited the game, but also switching to Caste would probably cost an extra turn

Also, getting a Great Scientist in a turn (iirc).
Make Academy? Settle (no)? or save for bulbing education?

As for ehipping, how is the forced peace and the fist (diplo) situation? We probably want to kill fast as we can, but if we are close to muskets I could hold off the whip.

We probably want to kill fast as we can,.
:agree: Agreed :yeah: :yup:
Spoiler :
:stupid:

Must determine Tech before proceeding. Do we also need to determine VC path as well?

Either UN Diplo or Conquest.

UN Diplo - tech to Mass Marketing, nice to somehow get a Great Engineer (Hatty asap?), build UN, have us plus vassal enough votes without us having too many ourselves
(can give cities to vassal; ok for us and vassal combined to have too many; will vassal be candidate if 2nd in pop?)

Conquest - kill them all while teching to Railroad, kill last city after building railroads
this seems simpler and faster; we are unstoppable now and will get stronger,
musketeers, knights, cuirassers
East army should go to Instanbul or Russia now, third possibility is to move thru Russia and start attacking other civs.
I like idea of Istanbul next, followed by Hatty to get her wonders and keep her from Liberalism race. Then fast move units thru Russia. hmmn, bypass Istanbul to get Hatty asap and then Hatty. Or Eastern army goes east and ferry south army across med. There are unowned tiles we can gather in.

I need pictures for a day or three to discuss anything in detail, no game access until late Friday.

How much army do we have remaining in Germany?

Definitely switch to CS and HR! The only question remaining is do we switch out of slavery? I say no at this point.

I like calendar. MOM is one of my favorite wonders, finish the game on a 36 turn golden age. What are our options for acquiring it?

I like Stalin as our opponent in potential UN voting, so I would rather go directly to CHINA! March a force to go strike a decisive blow about 25 turns from now. How far away is the Chinese border?

I don't favor attacking Hatty in the short run, she has LB's already and it would be costly imo.

MC next or are we interested in Literature for the Epics? Music for the free GA? If we want to switch civics and run caste, we can get 8 turns(12 with MOM) to play around with.

I like MC (forges more than triremes) > Aesthetics(trade maybe) > Lit > Music

Pictures:
Diplomacy Glance - everyone loves us because of tech selling
Big Picture - Berlin to Far East (whole map doesn't fit on screen)
Army Group East - next to and in Hamburg
Demand I rejected while playing.

any other pictures you want?

So, Ronnie - you are suggesting moving army all the way east to attack China next? How about Mongolia? Mongolia ~ 22 tiles from army, China ~ 36.
yes, Egypt has long bows; only 1 per city atm; anyway, I like using Army Group South (Portugal) for Egypt.
This decision not needed to proceed, just which tech (and trade - see next post).

Definitely switch to CS and HR! The only question remaining is do we switch out of slavery? I say no at this point.
Since it is imposible to be in slavery and Caste Systems at the same time, is it safe to assume you mean Bureaucracy (which is unlocked upon learning CS: Civil Service)???

If so, we agree on Hereditary Rule and Bureaucracy for the imediate civics switch, remaining in slavery at least for the time being.

I think with conquest or diplomation the immediate goals are the same. The only difference is that we don't piss off EVERYONE, we make one friend who is preferably not one of the top 3 largest civs and not on our path of destruction, but we can fix at any time. And a vassal target who isn't everyone's worst enemy should be considered.

But these are not pre-requisites for diplomation, so really we do not ned to make any concessions to keep this option open - but we could be smart and keep the option more easily open. Or not.

I think by the time we get 1-move units to china, they will face protective longbows. I'd rather have them do something useful. Mehmed or Stalin next, that's my vote, prefer Stalin, as he will be a problem unless Friendly.

Trade for calandar if we can. and tech MC, or vice versa. If we have to choose: We need military techs more than builder techs. We need to stop building wonders - they slow us down. We need to stop behaving like builders and start behaving like barbarian hordes.

Thanks for the pics! I use photobucket.

36 is to far. Why Mongolia? Why not India? Basic idea is to develop an eastern core early, allowing for easier quick grab of the required terrain at the end. I am starting to think UN, even if we have to build it without a GE, may be faster.

I know we have to connect Istanbul at some point, so in my opinion, we may as well go through it if possible.

Maybe India, maybe Persia, maybe Ottoman as last resort, but not Russia. Russia is the easiest to set up a UN coalition against imo.

Calendar trade, I like trading with Gandhi, but give Priesthood and take his gold. But only really needed if we can devote the hammers to building the MoM somewhere and running a few GA's.

If we aiming for UN I would argue for caste also now. The path to massmedia are made for bulbing and the earlier we start the better. This map is filled with great spots for large cities and then slavery is nor so great. BTW with the large lighthouse Churchill is a nice target to.

I'm thinking Aesthetics for Mausoleum as someone mentioned. We want to build it ourselves. Don't have time to open save now - do we know what Hatty is teching?

Mongolia because it is on way to China: Russia/Mongolia/China. Istanbul will be easy, Russia is big and shortest path goes thru Russia. If we do Diplo all we have to kill are (parts of) Russia, Mongolia, China (ignoring one could be vassal) and Hatty.
edit, and yes if diplo than bypass Russia

All we really need to decide before proceeding is the tech (and it probably doesn't matter as we will do all the choices eventually). But I would like us to compare number of turns for the two VCs and planned Great People use.

edit, (based on experience, not checking save) we can only switch two civics for one turn of disorder at this time. Otherwise I too would like caste because I don't see us doing much whipping (unless we go for conquest and even then not before two move units).

Bureaucracy! Yes indeed! No to Caste System! Hereditary Rule, Yes indeed!

As for tech, Calandar is for sale from SEVERAL AI. We should not tech this. Mehmed is the only AI with MC, so he won't trade unless we get Friendly (far away) or we steal it or we take it as war booty. Or someone else he knows figures out the secrets of metal casting.

Therefore the answer is obvious, trade, demand, beg or borrow calandar. Tech mc. Engr will be critical to fast conquest, and that requires mc (not to mention cheap collossus and triremes.

I think too many ai have a head start on MoM. I also think we gain more by bulbs than by GA. I also think that building wonders is a losing strategy (even collosus).

But I think a lot of things and not all of them are particulary clever, so if someone wants to convince me (preferably with hard facts, calculated numbers), then I am easy to change my opinion.

We could do a GA for the free civic change a scientist should be out quite fast again then. Whats best is totally calculable but unfortunately I won't be by my computer until Tuesday so if we want to proceed before that and no else want to calculate I have to go with my feelings. They tell me to build an academy and do a three civic change. I think waiting for free religion for caste is a too long wait to optimizer the bulbing path to UN.

Don't forget, we are Industrious. (oo oo - Metal Casting) And Great People are created in golden ages.
Since all Civs willing to trade Calendar - it could imply none are building MoM?

I would like to wait for Lisbon before any golden ages. I like caste because I don't see a use for slavery at the moment. But as wrote earlier, that would be another turn of disorder, so I can wait.
---
So, trade for Calendar - I showed some options above. I'd prefer to avoid Gandhi because he is worst enemy. But I think tech trades don't matter?? it's just the open borders?

1 turn disorder, Bur & HR. Tech Metal Casting.
Build Academy.

I will create a PPP and more questions before playing.

Industrious! Forges! More happy from our gems!

50% bonus on hammers for Wonders! How many hammers is MoM? With marble and the 50%, we get a 150% bonus. Each forest chop would be 75 hammers. MoM may only be 150 raw hammers, worth the investment imo if we can get 2-3 GA's to go with.

Trading with Gandhi, I wouldn't worry about it, but that is just me.
