Good idea on the Mil Acad, and for Calcutta, I hoped we can make them leave the city and come out in the open, by blocking with armies their way back...
 
Yes, that's my first hope too. But they very plausibly might stay in the cities, since I don't understand why didn't they come out and besiege Sivas earlier. They certainly went into Calcutta because we were threatening the city, that's why I started pulling our troops back.

If they persist in hiding in the cities, then the only think I can think of doing is pillage, and then try to burn cities where that stack is not...
 
I agree with you Mach about Military Academy prebuild. Good luck Chunky I will be able to play sunday or monday evening.

4 - 1000AD - Kill 3 pikes in Calcutta and burn it to the ground. Mwhahahaha... Kill another pike and bow. 20-0

The indian pike stack is on its way back north. Workers can be used as bait to draw them out quite effectively. There are some Persian galleons and frigates around the top of Zulu, but I've found that idf they are bombed enough they will retreat. i'll be back later to give more nuggets of info - i'm off out. :beer:

With MT in 8 turns and the Indian war in hand, we really should be planning the Persian attack now. I'm thinking another diversionary landing, this time with muskets in the southern Persian mountains. Then Sipahi and cannon land in the north to get us a foothold. It worked so well the first time... How many galleys are we gonna need?

Also we should discuss what to do with our GA when we get it. Conserve every shield; don't rush, only short-rush. Upgrade our knights first. Sell all our libraries...

I'm thinking we can probably take the rest of India, slowly but surely, within the next 20 turns, with the knight armies alone.

I think we disregarded something when we considering shutting off research after MT. Steam will give us rails - which are extremely useful for defence. Nationalism will give us rifles, but more importantly, the power to mobilize. I think we could consider this. Is it worth us trudging through another 40-50 turns to get these abilities? Considering halfway through the Persian job, they may get infantry? I'm not sure yet.

Also, I like the idea of a diversionary landing for Persian war, except this may be hampered by their frigates :(
 
Also how I would love just one stack o' five frigates right now. (But by the time we get frigates, the Americans will have ironclads at least...)

Now I'm unsure of myself. Astro, Banking, Physics, ToG, Magnets, Steam, Nationalism. Hopefully we'll get one for free in the IA. Yeah, maybe that will take us only 40-50 turns -- the GA will help us a whole bunch. Where will we be in 40-50 turns? Will Persia be gone by then? Not quite?

If we guesstimate that turning off research will mean an average of 100gpt into our bank, that's an extra 25spt via rushing, which is an extra sipahi every 4 turns; 10 over 40 turns. Which would we rather have in 40 turns; 10 extra sipahi, or galleons and mobilization and rails and rifles...

Hm, now I think you're correct. What says Khan and Baal? There must be a good way of looking at the question...
 
Hi guys. Nicy worky chunky, I feared that calcutta will be really tough nut to crack. Baiting the AI - great thinking.
Regarding research. Going up to nationalism isn't bad Idea for the mobilization, but will cost us a lot of effort. I don't know if 50 turns will be enough even with a GA. And actually the ships we can get on our way up are more interesting to me.
But consider the money worth. You're right, 4 g is worth 1 shield in rushing. But I really prefer the 3 g worth 1 shield in upgrades. I don't remember where the salpeter was, but I think that we can disconnect it, build 20+ knights and upgrade them. I would consider cutting the Iron too, but this is maybe going too far...

I think we must go on researching after MT as I said before. I believe that it will take much more turns to get Persia and then America or vikings for domination. We will need frigates for escort job and they will have factories and plants. They will have great production potential so rifleman and mobilization will be needed.

I will be able play tonight.

By the way Maiden concert must have been great Khan. I never saw them alive. :band:

Really [offtopic] but Baal, a personnal advice, if they come to you ("Eddie rips off Europe" may include Turkey), go on and see them, it's hilarious. They're promoting "The Early Days" (the last DVD) and the life album to come "Death on the road", so all the songs are from their 4 first albums. There are some I hadn't ever heard live, it's really worth.
Back on topic, researching seems nice but don't put too much money. Configure the corrupted cities to do it, scientists are good enough.

I dunno if specialists alone will get us anywhere. I vote let's not half, uh, heart anything; either turn research off, or crank it. Right now I'm thinking we turn research off for a few turns, maybe 5, so we can upgrade just a few knights. Then crank it all the way up.

IIRC, we're 7 turns from mil trad, so Baal won't have to decide, we have some time... :)

If they come me and many people won' t miss it but Turkey is not at the tour dates. They came once with Blaze and I was in the army at the time so I missed them. :(

If they don' t come I will try to watch them at Europe next year.

17 Indian pikes in sight. Nicey. We’ve lost our Zululand blockade. Set Istanbul on MA prebuild, the tech will come in 5 turns.
38 knights to become Sipahi is nice.
(IBT) Persians land 2 immortals and 2 rifles. Tough nut to crack. Indian pikes stack moves in our territory.

We desperately lack artillery now. Will switch some cities on cannon.
Bomb and kill 11 or 12 indian pikes. 11:0 I can’t strike the Persians, will let them live for now. Concentrating cats there. The army is protecting Bingol. The vikes will hit next turn, hopefully not amphibious.
(IBT) Successfully defend Sinop against a Zerk. 12:0 Americans land 2 guerillas and 2 cavs. The Persians are RRing.

The leader is in Istanbul, in case the next leader has other vision on his use. I strongly recommend him to rush MA. This will boost our 4 armies instead of giving us one Sipahi army that will have to wait for Persia to come in play. I don’t give India more than 10 turns of life.
Sipahis are expensive. I prefer upgrades than building them, I’d propose some more cannon builds, upgrading the artillery before knights (only 30g for a treb, 60 for cat), or a balance of the two.
Our channels are still blocked. The galleys are back, so if the frigates come we can bomb them before they can reach us. Remember, never miss a chance to bomb a vessel! Reorganise the blockade but try to make it.
The Persians are really annoyingly bombing the south. I’d send some cannons there.
There’s a hole in Zululand’s blockade but no enemy can’t reach it right now. In the north.

BTW, as a dreamer I want you to know that we’re at 30% of the land, India, Persia and the Viking-American island must be enough to get us to 66%. The pop will be tougher but doable.

Just to let you know I'm struggling to finish off COTM13, i estimate i've got about 6 hours of playing time left in me this month over the next couple of evenings before submissions close. I think I've got about 60 turns until I win... It should be enough but I won't be able to play any turns from here until i've submitted that game. I'm even considering taking a day off work, so I can improve my win date a little :blush:

So if we get to me before Friday I'd like a skip.
