Sure, you've lost that part already though :p :lol:

All depends how you count it. :mischief:

I see that you guys have 2.46 posts per turn while we have 2.64 posts per turn. :D

If we could only get this finished, we might have a chance to gain the spam award on the basis of posts per turn. :p

The real question is meaningful posts per turn, or total for that matter! :mischief: :mischief: :mischief: :crazyeye: ;)

I've got it and will try to play this evening.
Now why do I always get the game on sunday when monday-wednesday are the worst days w/r to play time for me? :p

:mischief: Because we're trying to make your life more difficult to see how you perform under stress? :lol: :lol: :lol:

Good luck with the propaganda..... :) And try not to let it get to you!! :rolleyes: :D

Turn 0 – 1450 AD 5/5 --> 2/5 cav defeats 4/4 sam outside Stockholm
Press enter.

IBT: Spokane flips to the Japanese

Turn 1 – 1455 AD Spokane: 4/4 --> 2/4 cav defeats 3/3 rifle. We capture Spokane

Edo unsuccessful
Orebro unsuccessful

IBT: Not much

Turn 2 - 1460 AD
Edo unsuccessful
Hit "end turn" instead of that small E next to it :angry:

IBT: Not much

Turn 3 – 1465 AD Edo and Orebro unsuccessful

IBT: The Japanese unload a 4/4 rifle next to Matsuyama

Turn 4 – 1470 AD 4/4 --> 1/4 cav defeats 4/4 rifle outside Matsuyama.
Propaganda in Edo, Orebro and Lugdunum fail.

IBT: Not much

Turn 5 – 1475 AD .
Founded a couple more cities.
Propaganda unsuccessful.

IBT: Japan unload a 4/4 Samurai next to Stockholm.

Turn 6 – 1480 AD 5/5 cav defeats 4/4 sam outside Stockholm.
Propaganda unsuccessful.

IBT: Japan unloads vet sam next to Matsuyama.

Turn 7 – 1485 AD Outside Matsuyama: 4/4 --> 1/4 cav defeats 4/4 sam

IBT: Japan unloads vet rifle next to Matsuyama.

Turn 8 – 1490 AD 4/4 cav looses to 4/4 --> 1/4 rifle outside Matsuyama
5/5 cav defeats 1/4 rifle outside Mats.

IBT: Not much.

Turn 9 – 1495 AD This is getting very tedious so I set up for a rather ambitious troop jump...
Move 21 cavs outside Västerås.
Give the following cities to the Japanese in exchange for peace:
New Washington, New Orlando, Västerås, New Dallas, New L.A.,New Olympia, New Santa Fe, Orlando, New Memphis, Spokane, New Chicago, New Spokane, New Houston and Atlanta 2.
Abandon New Hunt Valley.
Change all builds in former England to Cavs.

IBT: A few riots. Sorry, I had closed the CivAssist alert window... :sad:

Turn 10 - 1500 AD I'll stop early because I just realized we might have another way to go...
We can position all our vet and elite cavs in England in the SW part of the island (outside New Orlando or Västerås), give the Viks a whole load of cities in the SW (so they cover all that area with their territory, probably up to and including Kalmar and Santa Fe) and then agree when they tell us to move our declare war.
There's a spot open outside Byzantium that might just then be the nearest open spot for our troops to move to...

Sorry for the uninspired opening turns, I'm getting really fed with this game now that we can't win the laurel even.
But that last idea might be the breakthrough we need :)

BTW: I did a lot more propaganda than those shown, none were successful. I guess we'd need more culture to succeed?

:salute: Good effort, although I understand how you feel!! :goodjob: :goodjob:

I am not sure I understand exactly what you're proposing, is it covered here?

Roster:
Gator - UP
Bluebox - On Deck
Leif
Willow
Capt.
- Just played.
Nemesis - Skipped

The turnsets are frustrating as it is a game against the RNG now. :cry: That makes it a crap shoot instead of a game of strategy. :rolleyes: We chose this path and , however difficult, we need to try to stick it out until we get a break. :coffee: Did Willow get Norwich because our culture was equal that of the Vikings, perhaps? I am now fairly convinced that, given culture, power and random numbers, each try at espionage is a separate event. We have to get lucky sooner or later, don't we? :spear:

I am also thinking that once you try propaganda on a civ, that will be the outcome no matter hwo many times you try, just like planting a spy. :hmm:

Good luck Gator..... [pimp]

I think I understand what the Capt is suggesting. I'll give it a try tomorrow night if I get home from work at a decent hour.

Perhaps if I downloaded the game and looked, I might understand it as well. :blush:

Sorry, a little on the space cadet side of things as I had one of my back molars pulled today because it was cracked and couldn't be fixed. :cry: All that good pain medication you know!! :lol: :lol: :lol:

I'll be back to normal by, ohhh, Wednesday or Thursday? :mischief: :mischief: ;)

No, we got goahead for this idea from Alan earlier in the game. I just had given up on the idea cause there was no more open space. After Rome captured 2 Japanese cities and their cultural influence is gone, there's a tile on the Roman/Japanese island that is in neither civ's territory.
The clue is troop teleportation by getting kicked out of a civs territory and to the nearest open tile. This is allowed contrary to troop teleportation by gifting cities.

Woa! :eek: this thread has be come as fast as a rollercoaster. :D

Then we should prepare to get helis. I want to end the game decently. Though we probably can't win the laurels, we shouldn't aim for the spoon!

I'd rather give up than go to helis now. I'm tiring of this game, we have proved that we can win it and I'm ready for the next challenge. These long drawn-out finishes aren't my choice of Civ action [pimp]

Well, let's see what the Gator plan can do. Then I'll decide if I'm happy with the spoons. Unfortunately for Bluebox and the Capt, the rest of the currect team enjoyed the laurels in SGOTM 6 (and the Capt was on the winning XTeam in SGOTM 3)

Oh, the laurels are not that important to me. :p I'm a bit surprised that there seems to be a tendency to stall the game. If you want to go on to SGOTM9 it'll be fine with me. :)

I'm playing now so let's see how that goes. Although I must warn you, I'm only playing with one eye because I just put the ointment in my other eye.

I'll take your "one eye" anyday!! ;) :mischief: :cool:

Good luck... :D

Using my good eye I study the save file for a few minutes and then devise a 5 step plan.

Step 1 – (preturn) – start positioning cavs 1 tile east of New Washington and I draft 5 rifles

Step 2 – (1500AD) – I rushed 3 settlers last turn to take with my on our magical journey across the water

Step 3 – (1505AD) – I rush 20 cannons

Step 4 – (1510AD) – after position cannons with the cavs, rifles and settlers I’m ready to gift the cities. Thru the haze of using both eyes I saw that the open tile was at RCP6 from our stack of troops. My plan is to gift all cities within about RCP8 of our troops. Here is a look at the gifted cities.

Xteam_SG008_15.jpg

Step 5 (IBT to 1515AD) – Vikings demand we leave and auto move our troops, as expected, but the results were unexpected

So now we are stuck, the only way to win is to turn science back on but that doesn’t sound too exciting. A look at the military strength of both Rome and Japan (see below) indicates that reaching Advance Flight before the start of SGOTM09 is the only question left. There is no doubt that we can win the game and since we are no longer in competition for the laurel and fast approaching a time limit finish to our game, is there any point in pushing forward? That is really more of a question for AlanH.

Thoughts? Comments? Lurker Comments?

I'm not opposed to finishing this out but there is no real point in doing so.

@!£$ Why didn't that work?
Think another AI civ occupied the spot on the intraturn before we got kicked?

Nice try, though Gator. I'm sooo ready to let this slide now :lol:
