Does anyone have a good idea on how to make use of the shadow promoted golems? I never wind up using the first strike because a fireball appears better than one first strike any way you look at it. I've tried sending a stealth force into enemy territory but they can barely get ahead of the main battle force since the main force gets the luxury of some roads when they take a city. I'm not sure my guerrilla force would be attacked even if they where visible, they have so much defense.

I like them but I can't think of any way to actually use the promotion.

The most common use I make of Ardularia Chambers is to produce of force of invisible Mud Golems. I will often delete the ones I have and remake them all as invisible workers, generally in a city that has not yet built a Blasting Workshop (so that I don't accidentally cancel invisiblity by casting Fireball).

You can also place a few invisible Golems in key locations, to use as spotters. Enemies approaching your territory will be visible sooner, but the spotters won't be in danger of attack.

Against the AI, the sneaky things you could do with an attack force of invisible Golems are not especially effective. The AI doesn't have elaborate plans or morale. Against a human, I would imagine that being able to fork your attack without the opponent being aware of the second fork would be of considerable strategic value.

Thanks, thats the kind of insight I was hoping for.

I see your point about multilayer especially, we get a lot of conversation about things like Esus or the Svart world spell being weaker or worthless in MP, but Ardularia chambers would be much more effective in MP.

Golem scouting seems like it would be quite helpful, but still has the problem of them being kicked out of enemy territory on the DoW and again not being able to keep up with the attack force to do their job. Invisible workers is a cool idea, though that too seems like it would be better in MP.

Thanks Emptiness.

Woah, that would be nasty. I have to get my multiplayer buddies up to the point where they would play against me so I can try it.

Hmm, that would be interesting to pair with Esus state religion. Take a big stack of invisible golems into their territory, then declare war. It might work well in MP, though probably only ever once.

Tasunke did that to me with Ghosts once. Of course, I knew he was planning on attacking me, but I couldn't do anything about it (my military was far too weak... I was focusing on my economy at the time so I could get mages).

Speaking of Multiplayer, anyone up for a game?

I've got a hot-seat game planned for tonight, and I'm in the middle of a big Civ III hot seat game too, so, no, sorry.

Unfortunately my friends are warlord-noble level while I play monarch, so we typically play on the same team.

Nikis - I tried this & couldn't get it to work effectively. I declared war & all of the sudden all of my golems were thrown out of enemy territory. Don't know if its user error, a bug, or just that I'm using the wrong update of the mod.

It should work, so long as the invisible units were not on the same tile as any enemy units when was war declared.
