So true! It's just that the game reminded me of a boxing match where Black walks into White's punches, pow pow! Good show by White.

Thanks all!

I was expecting Bf8 to repel the attack instead of Rxg2, or even a move earlier. The buildup would have taken longer that way and it might have been defensible.

queen_roro got some of her ratings boost by winning 2 straight against me. She also defeated Narz in a game. ;)

I could use some advice from our resident dragon expert (Colinf) unless you want to keep your secrets to yourself. Anyone else with insight can comment too of course. How badly did I mistreat the opening in this game?

I gather his 11. Be2 is not among the more common replies but it looked good to me. I could never seem to find a reasonable looking plan and sacked a pawn in sheer frustration over having no active play. It didn't work out too well but I have little confidence in something like 25. Qb7, looks to me as if my position was getting less and less active by the move. Where did I go wrong?

Your opponent was tough. I'd say the usual Nc6 to Ne5 to c4 to get eaten then rook gets chased maneuver might have been too time consuming, maybe get the a & b pawns rolling right away? Dunno, I'm not a dragon expert, in fact I've never played the regular dragon, just my quick two cents FWIW (which might not be much in this case).

Well, they were fun games and stress free - for me!

Intersting line by white - be2 wastes a tempo - but he's clearly bluffing about his intentions to launch a kingside attack. He plays quite positionally through the centre which is always a tough strategy to counter.

My own inclination would be to pawn sac straight away with 11 ....b4. Taking the pawn is often good for black - he gets open b anc c files straight away. Other immediate thought is just try and push through d5 now that the bishop isnt on c4 - with or without a pawn sac.

I'll have a look in more detail when I get home!

This game looks to be headed to a draw for me. I messed up badly move 57, gifting my newly promoted pawn to him, fortunately I had a 2nd pawn to promote.

I think he's hoping I make another big mistake so he is 2nd in the group and might have a chance to go through to the next round (it's a tournament, and I'm top of the group), but as long as I don't do something stupid I will at least draw it.

If the White pawn isn't there, I think you might even mate him. As it stands I think you can force a draw quickly if you want to.

I played a few games recently against a friend. It's been a long time since I've played any chess game under time control and wow, it was like a former high school athlete who hadn't run a mile in years: I though I could, I wanted to, but man, it hurt!! Casual games and tactics are fun, but this was work.

He won both games, though at least I didn't drop a pawn or hang a piece or get caught in a forced mate.

So that's something.

I suppose... ;)

Interesting, I would not have considered d5 as a plan in this type of position. Thanks for the comments, it gave me something to think about. Maybe I will try a few of those accelerated dragons as well and see if I like those better.

I want you to look at the position again and tell me what you should have played instead of 57. Qg4+ You really should have won the game right there and then.

I'm hoping to give my opponents a decent challenge...to say the least. One of my opponents (I think it was queen_roro) accused me of cheating in the chat during our game. I can say with 100% confidence that I have never cheated. It's wrong and against the spirit of the game.

Should've played Qc1, leaving his queen vulnerable for my next move.

Yes, after Qc1+ he must move the King and then you just capture his queen. Game over. But you must actually play it or it does your rating no good...

Interesting game so far vs. SnowWhite Panzar. :D

Yeah, I haven't the foggiest what's going on. He seemed intent on leaving theory almost immediately. His King's position is sort of comical. I have a feeling it will turn out to be a contest of showing the other guy who's King is least safe, his in the center or mine with a bunch of open lines towards the kingside.

That SnowWhite sure seems like a crazy dude, that's for sure! ;)
