I am so tired of searching ...

First of, this is basically for my mod. I am having trouble finding shi'a "wonders" (so to speak). It would be really helpfull if i had a list of shi'a dynasties or smthing similar. Then i could just look for stuff they built (it's a good start).

Does anyone know where i could find even a SIMPLE LIST of shiite dynasties ?

Off the top of my head, the major Shi'ite dynasty was the Fatimids. I'm sure you can find a few Wonders from them!
That's the only one i knew too. I started some research just now.
And just by skimming i already found lots of intresting facts. They have a very good reputation for being highly tolearble toward jews and christians.
However, on the principle of "if there's no controversy it's boring" take a look at this guy. (it's a short article)
Among other things from the article:
He made the Christians wear wooden crosses, half a meter long by half a meter wide, around their necks.
 Wow, that would've looked intresting.

Also i found that one of the Islamic wonders from my mod the "House of Wisdom" was founded by a fatimid caliph. So that's one. :)

That's another one. :)

So far i've finnished researching the Fatimids (more or less).
Another wonder that would fit perfectly is "Taghribat Bani Hilal" - an epic tale. But i'll need to look at the other dynasties too - i wouldn't want only fatimid wonders.

So far, the dynasties that i quickly found were shi'a are:

Fatimids
Buwayhid
Safavid

Wiki seems to think the state religion is irrelevant for most (almost all) dynasties.

You have the Persian literary epic, the Shahnameh, but that's covered by National Epic.

There's the navigational epic, the Ruby Yacht of Omar Khayyam (I think that's from Rocky and Bullwinkle)

For a real wonder, how about the Fortress of Alamut, from which the Assassins operated? 6500 feet up, and virtually impenetrable.

The shrine of Bibi Shahrbanu, the Shi'a claim it as their own. Although it is actually a Persian monument built at the time of the Sassanid Dynasty, their is a prevailing myth that connects the shrine to Muhammads daughter and many of the twelvers.

I've read a bit about it. It seems really intresting, i might look it up at the public library someday, but i doubt they have such books. :(
As for the usage in the game, yes, it's sorta covered by the Heroic Epic (it's a civ3 mod :))

This thing ? (i see the Rocky and Bullwinkle reference) Seems intresting, but i didn't find many naval references in the wiki article ... This might be good as a wonder (with navigation bonus and stuff) if i'll be sure it has some seafaring references ... i'll look around for stuff about it tho.
That guy Omar seems to be quite a character. :)
And look at what a cool shrine he has:

Omar himself would be suited to be a "wonder". But i found someone else : :)
Avicenna
It wouldn't be exactly fair to let only the shi'a "have him" because basicaly all of the islamic world benefited from him directly, but he was a shiite.

I already added the Hashshashin as part of the Crusades vs Jihad concept. (even tho they weren't exactly used against the crusaders)

I'm trying to limit the number of shrines/mosques/cathedrals/temples altogether.

Here's the other "wonder" i will probably add:
The Kizilbash - a small wonder that makes units. :)

This should be in a different thread but it's not that big ... (i should have named the thread Religious wonders ...)

For the Sunnites i chose:

- Dome of the Rock
- University of Sankore

What should i choose between:
1001 Nights or the Hamzanama.
I'm leaning toward the latter because 1001 Nights is mostly a compilation of folk tales, most of them probably from pre-islamic times (ex: Queen Sheherezada was a Sassanid queen).

But besides these 3 wonders i need another one. I already have 1 wonder from Mali, 1 from Mughal, 1 from the Levant ... i should probably add one from Egypt or smthing. The University in Cairo doesn't count, it was built during the Fatimids' reign.
Does any other things come to mind ? (not necesarely from Egypt ... Sunni wonders in general)
