I'm in the middle of playing this Conquest and am in the process of invading a smaller neighbor. However, the AI's Daimyo is destroying every stack of soldiers I send to the capital. I'm guessing that Daimyo's should fight other Daimyo's so my guy is on his way, about 7 moves away at this point.

The question I have is what can I do to ensure I have an advantage in a Daimyo vs Daimyo battle? (aside from upgrading to the various Shogun levels, which apparently at this point I can't do yet) I have more techs than the AI, including Bushido which I hope will prove to be the decisive edge I need.

By the way, this Conquest rocks! There's alot going on in this one, and the idea of the Japanese fuedal lords duking it out and trying to rise to the rank of Shogun is just plain cool. [pimp]

My apologies, I just realized this went under the wrong forum

Dont worry, it'll probably be moved.

DO NOT USE YOUR DAIMYO! NEVER! LEAVE HIM IN YOUR CAPITAL! PUT HIM ON A CARAVEL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE OCEAN! DO NOT USE HIM TO FIGHT ANOTHER DAIMYO!

Since Sword of the Shogun is Regicide, the fate of your Clan would hang in the balance--and his would too--so any reasonable cost-benefit analysis would dictate that you not do it with one exception: if you heavily bombard him and attack him with several suicide units, you could weaken him to the point where your victory is almost certain; but even then, he could move into the mountains with a fortress or even move into a city, where he would gain a defense benefit possibly enough to win the battle! Bad idea. I suggest you carefully manage the movement of a few units--anything will do, but if he's in a stack, then it's a good idea to use Ninjas-- so that you still have movement left by the time you reach him. This will involve small movements and taking convoluted routes, not to mention turning on the map grid (so you can see how many movement points it would use up).

If you are confident that your Daimyo would beat their Daimyo, then never mind.

BTW, which Clan are you playing as?

And Sword of the Shogun is my personal favorite Conquest, though I have yet to beat it (those goddamn Hojo keep messing me up!) and have fun!

Best,
