Hey man, recently discovered C2C, love it. LOVE it.

I'm mostly a CiV guy so I've been looking at ways to port what you've done over... With some of the recent innovations in CiV's mod community, coupled with the release of the new expansion, the expectation of more mod support, etc... now could be the time to look at that. It is an incredibly daunting task but I think it could turn out pretty awesome using some of CiV's game mechanics.

Anyway on to the topic...
I remember on ROM there was a way to set up a shortcut to launch the mod, but can't seem to figure out how to do it.

Can you instruct me or point me to the thread?

Well for those who don't know I personally went and made a copy of the Civ4 shortcut then added the following code to its properties and then renamed the shortcut C2C.

Target: "C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Civ4BeyondSword.exe" mod=\Caveman2Cosmos

I am pretty sure it works for any mod as long as you spell it the same as that the mod is called. Note the target location may vary based on where you installed your game. This is why I used a copy of the Civ4 shortcut. Since it already have all the info except for the mod=\Caveman2Cosmos part.

Thanks Hydro. Yeah that was the problem with mine. Civ IV complete goes into a 2k games folder and some naming conventions are different. Anyway, I got it to work thanks to the shortcut included in the DL. Great work on this mod man. It's intense. I can't sleep.

Hydro, I always get the message Mods\Caveman2Cosmos \ is an invalid directory, ignoring. Any advice?

That was for Civ IV Complete,, do you have that or a standard version?

This post is also very helpful if you want to set up your short cut and not have to change the default settings (presuming you play other mods or vanilla).

I have the standard version from steam.

I thought so, so the info Hydro had was for "Complete."
I have a shortcut in the mod itself, and an icon there for folder looking changes, plus a savedgame shortcut, cause i HATE looking through all the files just to find the game i am playing, that way i have it set on my Desktop and only have to click on ONE file.

Of course, the alternative if you're trying to launch a game you already have (likely to be most of the time) is to just double click on the save. If you're using windows 7 and have cIV in the start menu it should then have a submenu on it with the save listed, so you don't have to seek it out again.

Well over the years I bought Civ4, then Warlords and then Beyond the Sword when they came out. All separately and via CD/DVD from the store. No steam or complete collection stuff even though I would assume it had the same stuff as complete. Likewise I updated my game too to make sure it had the latest patches. Its been so long since I installed the game I forget.

It was correct.
