So mocking a catholic school after defeating them in a basketball game with a really offensive cruxifixation of a barbie on a cross. Should the coach get fired and the team be penalized. You know that if they made of the prophet Mohammed like this, heads would roll and there'd be outrage.

I don't know that at all. I know that there would be people saying that it was grossly inappropriate and offensive, just like there are under the current circumstances. As to whether the coach should be fired, that depends on whether the school wants to keep an idiot on their payroll. If a guy can't anticipate that this could have consequences he may be too stupid to live unassisted, and he is certainly too stupid for me to employ him...but I'm not a school.

You make an awful lot of assumptions there. And I thinks the coach a woman btw.

Those aren't assumptions. They are conclusions drawn from the available facts. If I am responsible for leading a team of kids as their coach and I find myself in the situation this coach is in, feel free to conclude that I too am an idiot. If I am in that situation please conclude that I did not anticipate the consequences, because any conclusion that I did anticipate the consequences and did it anyway makes me look a whole lot worse. The world is notoriously forgiving towards stupidity, other motives not so much.

 That's the best gloating stunt I've heard in a while.

Not even close. Jeff Fischer sending out all of the players the Rams have gotten out of the RGIII trade as captains for the coin toss when they played Washington.

Id rather give this coach a medal, that was hilarious. Religion deserves all the scorn and mockery that it can get.

I don't know about firing, but without question that coach needs to be penalized, if not by her school, than by the governing body for Illinois HS sports. That's totally unacceptable behavior for a teacher of children. College coaches have been fired for less.

I think if you win you should stay humble.

It will probably surprise the people with whom I've been arguingconversing in some other religion-themed threads here, but I think this was highly inappropriate and yes, the coach deserves consequences that will be felt beyond a token apology that doesn't really mean much without action to back it up.

Isn't learning sportsmanship supposed to be one of main benefits to students playing sports? Way to really ram that lesson home, coach.

I'm surprised that a heretofore unremarked aspect of the story hasn't offended an altogether different sensibility:

Spoiler :
the use of Barbie as a symbol of "girl-power"

There's room for Christians and feminists to be offended by this. And presumably for Christian feminists to be doubly offended.

Oh no everyone's being offended now. Think of the children.

Its silly but quite innocent. Anyone who get serious about this is like saying God cant laugh....

Of course he can't laugh, he doesn't exist.

I know this much. Smart people will be discussing possibility of God existence long after you will stop to exist...

Except the coach wouldnt probably take it. The only thing which deserves mockery is stupidity and disrespect others beliefs is stupid.
