Should the unit request thread be a thread at all?

I had a thought for the moderators/admins: many of the other civ forums sites have seperate forums for unit requests and some of them even have sub-furums for different catagories of requests (fictional, not-fictional).

Wouldnt it be a good idea for this site to have a seperate forum for unit requests as a sub-forum of the 'Creation & Customization' forum? It would make it a lot easier to read requests for the unit makers.

Right now if your request is on page 27 of 40 (for example) no one would ever see it because it is buried so deep.
Maybe I should post this in the site feedback forum also.

Moderaters/Admins: is this a good idea? Could it be done?

The unit request thread is useless IMAO. It is to large. A new forum would be better then one thread or many threads in the main C&C forum. As that way a unit maker wouldn't have to look through the main forum for any new threads anout a unit request. And I belive it was the old C&C mod Dark Sheer who said that the thread might become useless after a while.

Another possibility would be to scrap the current thread and start a new one.

I think that has already been done. it gets large fast.

I just think that is a short term fix. If the thread were made into a new forum then the problem would be gone. Even if there were many threads in the forum it would still be 10x easier to read and see requests. IMHO it would be a permanant solution.
I think it is very important.

As I suggested, it could even have two catagories, one for fictional units and one for not-fictional units. Two seperate forums or two sub-forums inside a main request forum like the C&C forum has.

If that is two difficult to implement or uses too much space or something then one all inclusive forum would be fine too. Still infinitely better than what we have now.

I don't think it's necessary. When a unit request thread gets too long, just create a new one and we can make that one sticky.

I asked the same question to the people in C&C forum and some of the (other) unit creators responded saying that they never look into the thread, so what good is it? What is the point in anyone posting in it if the requests are never made into units?

BTW, what happens to the old thread? Does it stay in the archives?
