'Show Tech Splash' problem

After downloading Patch 1.74 and trying to load an autosave, a window appears in game saying 'show tech splash'. If I right click the window it shows a variety of options all grayed out except for the 'move' function. Other than this window, I can't interact with the game whatsoever. The only way to exit the game is Ctrl-Alt-Del. My assumption is that the autosave came just before a tech research completion, and for whatever reason the game can't load the actual screen.

I've tried turning off tech splash screens using the Civilization4.ini file to no success.

It is for all the autosaves for that particular game. I was able to open a manual save for a previous game fine. However that save didn't require a splash screen to open up when loaded, so I think the glitch has something to do with loading with a splash screen.

The save I opened played fine and all splash screens behaved normally. I'm going to start a new game and remember to save often... not just auto.

you could post the save game for me to test it
also: you can set the game to autosave every turn (in the civilizationIV.ini change the autosaveinterval from 4 to 1 - you can also specify how many autosaves to keep under maxautosaves
