Hello

Could anyone tell me why computer players ALWAYS say something like 'They would never accept such a deal' when i ask them to pay me x gp / turn in exchange for something ? No matter how good is the offer they wont give me even 1gp/turn

i got conqueststs 1.22 / playing on sid / most of ai are polite towards me

I've had that problem. I offer 3 advanced techs in exchange for 1 gpt, and sure enough, "They would never accept such a deal!" Not that I would really do that, but still.

Also. even though rep doesn't matter when they are offering gpt, I have a good rep.

And in response to punkbass2000's comment, it happens even when they already have 100 gold or something.

'Gold' and 'gold perturn' are not the same thing. The AI will never run a deficit if it can avoid it. Doesn't matter how much gold it's saved up.

The AI's don't often have surpulus gpt until late middle ages or even later. Later in the game you can often get large gpt deals from them. At Chieftain/Warlord levels, the AI is so handicapped that
If you really want to trade, check with them every turn. When one of their deals ends, you'll be able to trade for whatever gpt they have, but if you miss the opportunity, they'll make another trade.

punkbass2000 is correct. In the early game especially, the AI will be running their science rate very high so they will have no income, which means they have no gpt to trade. The gold they do get probably comes from barb camps.

Later in the game some of the AI will get more economically advanced and will have some gpt to trade.
