Its an absolute shame that this game is pretty much become an overlooked gem already, I recently bought it and have to say its one of those games that exactly what your looking for. It takes aspects from 4x games and RTS games, puts them on a grand strategy scale and its all in real time. The blend is excellent. I'm almost certain its my next "game", as in the one ill be playing the mos for the next six months or so. Its the grandness of the scale and the smoothness of the transition, the scale is on the same level as supreme commander, with the seamless ground to level to out space zooming, making giving orders and just figuring out what the hell is going on easier. That, and race specific tech tress FTW!

So who has it and what do you think of it?

I have the game and it is absolutely marvelous. Ive logged in quite a lot of hours on it already, and I dont see an end to that. Ironclad certainly did an exquisite job with this game.

Its especially fun if you find someone to play MP with (Hint, check out #civfanatics chatroom sometime, I, croxis and LogicSequence all have the game and play somewhat regularly)

Hmmm.....didn't realize that, its just havnt heard hardly any talk about it so I assumed it was overlooked.

I play it and enjoy it. Although it kind of gets old after a while. However there are some pretty awesome mods being developed in the official forums. :D There's a mod that would replicate the solar system complete with ridiculously detailed and familiar planets as well as the usual crop of Star Wars and Star Trek mods.

Yeah it hasn't gotten that discussed, at least not for a while on the two forums I go to.

I'll get it eventually, especially once the mods are out.

Look for it on sale, and if you find it go ahead and buy it. IMHO, its most definitely worth the 50$ it was initially, and if you find it for less, its even better.

Meant to get this, but then completely forgot about it. Might give it a shot this week, if I could get some opinions on why I should buy it :)

There are 3 people in #civfanatics who would be willing to play multiplayer is one reason.

It looks good, plays good and doesnt get too boring ( you can always spice things up)

Personally my favorite online matches so far are the ones with rules, such as no capital ships, no trade posts, no refineries, stuff like that. It really keeps things interesting, plus the single player A.I is pretty smart to boot, which really helps.

Which seems to become/be the Stardock trademark :)
I've been thinking about picking up this game; the only thing preventing me from doing it is that I fear it would be one of those games that are too large & time consuming for me to play and really enjoy. It seems like a "huge scale, long games" thing

Still exploring the latest GalCiv2 expansion but there as well I have to limit myself to small or tiny size games, to limit the time spent.

I have seen it for less, $35 or $40 IIRC.

I like the idea behind SoaSE but didn't like the execution much. I am sure that with the frequent updates that Stardock is know for, they will make turn this into the first classic 4xRTS.

I want to get it, I don't have the specs for it though...

it's not available here for another month or so :(

Why not get it from Stardock, KaeptnOvi?

what are your specs? Sins can run on relatively low end hardware.

As long as you have a P4 2+ ghz, 1+ GB ram and a moderate video card you can run it.

Hell, with my crappy system I can run it at 1650x1080 with almost no lag.

I might, but I've never used Stardock....and I don't really have time for any new games at the moment anyway  and In Nomine's been released too

oh, and I like shiny game boxes :ack:

Stardock will mail you the physical copy too when you buy it from them ;)
