Go to where the intro.bik file is located in your Civ folder. It should be in Art\Movies. Either change its name (e.g. intro.bak or something) or delete it. Since it can't find the file it will skip it.
You can do this with almost anything in the game. There are some annoying sound effects in the game and to solve this problem I just deleted the corresponding .wavs.
I'm guessing you found this with Search and your question pertains to Civ5, both because all your other posts are in Civ4 and because I ran into the same issue with the Civ5 demo (and went to the Civ5 forum to figure out how to do this for Civ5). Pacioli's fix is what you want for Civ3. For Civ5, go to My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5[ Demo]\UserSettings.ini, and change
SkipIntroVideo = 0
to
SkipIntroVideo = 1
where the [ Demo] is not present if you are playing the full game.
holy cow. Yeah I did a search for civ5 and skip intro, and it was such a perfect match I didn't check the date or the forum. That's hilarious. Thanks for the help...
