Slowness in BTS

I've asked this in the 'BTS bugs forum' but I didn't get a reply so I'm asking it here.

In short:
I can play CIV IV on maximum settings without any lag at all. Everything runs fine.
But when playing Beyond the Sword, everything is loading slow. When proceeding to the later eras, it takes 2 minutes to load a turn and another 2 minutes to load a AI diplomacy screen. Why?

I heard that this Vanilla mod is faster then BTS, where can I find Vanilla? When I typ it in 'search' I get other mods.

BtS has changed the way the game handles the graphics somewhat and it is well possible that your graphics card does not like that - did you update your card drivers/firmware?
what card do you have?
Also you might want to try installing Nevermind's static leaderheads and wonder movies since graphics memory could be the culprit. How much RAM does your machine have?

Regarding the Border colors: they are coded somewhere in the xml files for each Civilization and you could probably change them there - the problem is just that I am not sure that you can easily introduce completely new colors...

I have a Nvidia Geforce 8800. I can play the regular CIV IV, Oblivion and Unreal Tournament 3 etc. without lag.

Thanks for the statistic leaders, this will remove 50% of the huge amount of lag. Now for the other 50%.

EDIT: I tested it, the diplomacy screen is 75% faster but is still a bit laggy.
It doesn't matter if I give my pc specs because if I can play those games perfectly fine I think that said enough.

I don't think it's a simple matter like updating your drivers etc. Only BTS is running slow, everything else is running fine. I do have Vista bytheway.

You said that the graphics are differently programmed in BTS, can I change it back to the regular CIV4?

I have the same thing.

BTS used to run super fast for me, used to play on large worlds with lots of other Civs (under XP)

Upgrade to Vista, BTS runs like a snail (even on duel!). Every other game I have runs more than fine.

Im also latest drivers/patches etc
