SMAC hotseat? Possible?

Just got this game (borrowing it from a friend actually).
I was dissapointed to see that there is no hotseat mode that I could find.
Does a patch or mod exist that lets you play this game hotseat?

With the expansion comes hotseat MP.

Hotseat is in the patch update. V 4.0 I think. You can get it at Firaxis.com
