While I agree it's a misnomer, the Divided Soul refers not to the soul but to the person who has the ability to separate himself from his soul. So while the separated soul would not need to talk, the remainders of the person still would.

If you're thinking of your character in Diamondeye's game, it was LightFang that was the Divided Soul, and you his soul.
