[SNEAK PEEK] GraveMod (a NEW ModPack for Warlords on the way!)

for roman maybe a balista instead of a catapult

for USA, you could have militia, Rifleman with +1 speed.

For arabia, camel swordsman. Don't know how that would work, maybe horse archer with +1 strength. Im just tossing out ideas here. I'll check Wikipedia for more ideas.

Nice Israel stuff (the vocals). It seems that we have a Hebrew speaker helping now, which is awesome. I would however, like to mention a couple of points.

1) When looking for Israeli leaders, units, etc, it is important to ask how this mod is looking at Israel. Is the Israeli civ in this mod the historic (ancient) nation? Does it include the Jewish state? The use of the menorah banner over that of the Star of David flag would imply to me that it is the former, but the inclusion of a tank unit would indicate a more expansive idea. The author of this mod would do well to clarify what his aim is for Israel. (It could turn out to be like saying that Charlamagne was a French leader or that Mussalini was Roman, arguably valid but maybe not the best choice available.)

2) Is Gravemod going to include a tailored list of Great Generals for each civilization? If so, Maccabeus should definitely be in that list rather than as a leader. If not, then he would be a good leader. (Other Great Generals for Israel could include a number of the Old Testament Judges such as Gideon et al.)

I was also wondering if you have any more spoilers ready? Other leaders, etc? I know January 1st is only a few days away, if that's still the beta date, but I check this thread each day in the hope of seeing another cool screenshot.

I'll do my best to answer these...

If you can imagine this... I'm trying to look at Israel more as a Nation. In the game, they aren't guaranteed to found Judaism each time, so I'm trying to keep the Judaic and the Israeli stuff as seperated as possible. FYI.. the Menorah is the flag for Israel in my mod.

My aim for Israel is to include UU and UB's that span the entire existance of the Israeli Empire. So far I have three UU's for Israel... one ancient unit, and two modern units.

I'm going to attempt to have a tailored list of ALL the Great People for each Civ, where possible. This also includes Unique Great Prophets, tailored to each Religion. Again, if possible. That will be the last leg of my Unit editing, because researching all the Artists, Scientists, Engineers, Generals, Merchants, etc for all the Civ's in the game is going to be a monumental task.

I was also wondering if you have any more spoilers ready? Other leaders, etc? I know January 1st is only a few days away, if that's still the beta date, but I check this thread each day in the hope of seeing another cool screenshot.

I'll post a few Unit spoilers this weekend. Just enough to keep y'all interested. ;)

The Units are taking longer than I expected, so I won't have a beta ready by New Years, like I was hoping. Vacation kinda threw a wrench in those gears. But once I have the Units done, I decided I'll tackle the Civics next, then Religions, then after that, tie up some loose ends... and I should be ready for a beta after all that.

An Arabic CIv should have 2 leaders also. One military and another spiritual. Unfortunatly both will be coming the Middle Ages.
Why not
Harun Al-Rashid
=========================================================
Egiptian military leader:
Ahmad 'Urabi, colonel. In january 1881-1882 he and his friends, young arabic officers in the egyptian army organized a native revolt against the British. That paticular revolt led to the massive British military presence in Egypt, almost to the occupation.
==========================================================
Arabic leader(military GP): Khalid b. Al-Walid
His briliant tactics in the Battle of Yarmuq(638) desided the fate of An Arab-Byzantine War(634-641). He was also called "The sword of Allah".

An Arabic CIv should have 2 leaders also.

I do have a second Arabic Leader... Saddam Hussein.

While he may not represent Arabs as a whole, I really do like the unique skinning done by the creator. Plus I was also looking for more modern Leaders, and Saddam fit the bill.

He should represent the Military angle that you're looking for, though. ;)

** UPDATE **

I guess I have to update the death of Saddam Hussein in my Text files now. ;) :high5:

In other news, still working on the UU's for each Civ. It's coming along nicely though. Looks like each Civ will have 3 UU's each. I wanted to make more, but certain Civs I was having troubles thinking up new units for. Mainly Korea, the Zulus, the Incans and the Aztecs. So I settled on 3 UU's for now.

Screenshots to come...

Zulu? Well, think of what is now South Africa, maybe the freedom fighters who fought against the aparteid might be a special infantry, or Zulu Spear throwers?
Korea? I believe they have some pretty nice tanks, great artillery. Incas and Aztecs? There I can't help you as much, but don't forget the jaguar infantry and the different weapons they used.

There was an Aztec unit in the Database last time I looked in the unit section, I think it was an Eagle Warrior.

Just wondering?? Why even reference your other two MODs when the download link does not even work:

This post is to inform the masses of my latest project, GraveMod. This project is the next evolutional step of my two previous mods, Grave's SevoMod Remix and Grave's MegaMod. Instead of being an add-on to a popular ModPack this time around, I have decided to release my work as an entirely independant ModPack.

Just wondering?? Why even reference your other two MODs when the download link does not even work:

Just as a point of reference. To show I'm not new to making mods, that's all. Actually I only removed the SevoMod add-on zip file just last week. It was dated anyway, only compatable with SevoMod 2.9z.

There was an Aztec unit in the Database last time I looked in the unit section, I think it was an Eagle Warrior.

:mischief:

I really wanted to keep all the UU's as historical as possible. If need be, I could do some research on modern day South Africa, and find some kind of unit I'm sure. The main problem with Korea is most of their weaponry was borrowed from Russia (in North Korea's case anyway). What I wanted to do with Korea is find a unique weapon system that was exclusive to them only. I found a KA-30 AA gun, but as of right now there isn't a unit graphic for it.

And the Aztecs and Incans are really hard to find units for! Finding two more UU's for them took alot of research time!!!

@ grave well while lookign up modern south africa might as well look up angola zaire the congo etc as they are part of the zulu land grab

Grave have you thought about adding the casino that asioX3 made

Looks like a first-rate mod you have coming along. A few questions/suggestions:

About the lesser vs. world religions, have you planned some sort of "decay" within the ancient religions such that they might be superseded by the later world religions? I seem to recall a mod somewhere where someone included paganism with a unique pagan temple, and that when a religion spread to the city the temple was converted into an appropriate world-religion temple. For your mod, I could see the Romans building a Roman Temple until say Christianity comes along, whereupon it's converted to a Christian Temple. This way, the bigger religions would slowly envelop the ancient ones until the latter die out. Of course, you'd probably want to implement some sort of way for the player to resist this, if he so desired. (Maybe a better way would be to base it on state religion rather than simple religious spread; once the player officially converts from an ancient to a modern religion, the ancient religion starts to fade away. This is more in line with how it historically happened.)

As for the UU's, I would very much like to see additional ones for each civ, preferably a mix of air/sea/land. A few ideas: maybe the minuteman and/or B-52 for the Americans, a special longbowman or the old Civ 3 man-of-war for the English, Companion cavalry for the Greeks, etc. I don't know if this is what you're looking for, but feel free to use my unique great people mod if it fits in with your ideas for this mod.

Looking forward to its release.

Looks like a first-rate mod you have coming along.

Thanks!

I certainly hope the months of work I put into it will be warmly received by the public! :D

That would be Eusebius World Religions, which is a part of my project. I haven't really "fleshed" out the Religions quite yet, I just added the ones I wanted to get a feel for how I'm going to balance everything out.

Once I finally get around to mucking about with the Religions, I'll play test them, to see how the game plays with 12 or so Religions. I read somewhere that Firaxis only included 7 Religions because it made for optimum game play. So if it turns out 12 Religions unbalances the game, I'll have to look at Plan B, which is removing the Ancient Religions, and making their respective temples a second Unique Building (UB).

But nothing with the Religions is concrete yet.

Based off of what you suggested, I think you'll be very pleased with the UU's I've selected for each Civ. ;)

I'm most definately going to try and include Unique Great People. That's one of my biggest pet peeves in this game... when Benjamin Franklin is born in Timbuktu!

Looking forward to its release.

I've been working on this almost every day for the past 3 months... Trust me, so am I!

Here a long list of UUs. You may read about them before, i only throw all the ideas that I had and sometime i didn't knew a lot on the subject  . You may take a look at Master Lexx 2UU mod and maybe at some civ3 mod to sneek for some ideas.

<snip>

Sweet... thank for that listing! The Civs I seem to be having problems finding UU's for are still Korea, the Incans and Aztecs. The Zulu, Indians, Arabs and Persians were tough, too. They're whats holding me back from making 5 UU's per Civ. Others like the Americans, Russians, Greeks are easy. Five UU's was my initial goal for each Civ, but it's hard finding the perfect unit! I could easily spend hours just researching a single UU to add to a Civ. Your list does help alot though...

Other units that may be good for all civs

Dragons, Cataphract, Gonne, Siege Tower, Battering Ram, Onager, Sligner, men-at-arms, Zepplin, modern gunship, modern sub, WW1 era planes and tanks, AA guns, Armored Car, special force(maybe use Navy seal graphic and find an other UU for USA)

I did add a bunch of new units that all Civs can use, many of them you already listed. For example, each Civ can build a new National Wonder that allows the construction of Special Forces units. Kind of like Scotland Yard and the Spy units. ;)

I would like to have your UU and new units that you have for the moments and those that you would like and that need new graphics, maybe i can do some in my free tume ;)

Awesome, thank you, sir!

I'm at work right now :mischief: but once I get home I'll post the official UU listing. There are a few custom unit and building graphics that I could really use. I'll shoot you a PM when I get home.

Thanks and good luck with your mod.

Thanks... it's all coming together quite nicely. :goodjob:

Edit : You should also sneak in MaxRiga mod and in snafusmith, nautil, sharick and The Conquests work because the didn't upload their files in the DataBase

Been there... done that!

India: 1 more UU

Persia: 2 more UU
Korea: 1 more UU

While these units above are pretty much set in stone, I may change some of the vanilla units they replace, like making the Impi replace the Pikeman instead of Spearman, etc.

On a side note...
- Horseman replaces Horse Archer
- Special Forces is a new unit available to all Civs

Also, I'm looking to make UU's for each Religion. Abbamouse's Religion mod has 1 UU for each Religion... I wanted to expand on that and offer 2 UU's for each one.

So, I'm looking for ideas on this also...

Still looking good. I really didn't care about the units, until you posted the list. Now I'm interested.

A couple more thoughts though:

1) Are you planning to incorporate The Lopez's Inquisitors mod? I'd really really like to see it, as it's the only way that I know of to get rid of religions once they enter your land.

2) A list of mods you plan to incorporate would be really nice. From your earlier comments, it seems that you aim to emulate Sevromod primarily, which gives some idea of what type mods you plan to use, but an actual list would be really nice.

3) Have you thought of using the Modular Loading plan that's been worked on recently for the adding in of civilizations? You could release your mod by itself, then release additional civs as modlets, easily installed, and thereby keep from needing to update the entire mod every time you want to add somebody new. It'd be ideal for expandibility, by you or anyone who wants to help out. So, once a year or so we get a big update, but every few months, maybe we get a new civ that meets your high standards and is fully compatible and easily added.

Japan - Ninja - Replaces spy, avalible earlier (art exists in other mods)
America - Minute Men - Replaces Musketman - weaker (8) but very cheap 50, Gurrila I for Free (reskin should suffice)
