So close, and yet so far

Why are they so tightfisted to not increase server sides til they are overloaded.. EVERY launch does this!

Its almost if they want it to happen!

"Hey, our game is so popular, its distorting the time contiunum!"

Daft those are loverly.. I am starting to understand why such "cutesy" graphics might actuall need a decent computer.

You had any trouble with your internets?

I can't play with lighting or shadows set to 'high', it totally kills the frame rate. Its pretty fast with shadows at minimum. I'm running on a PC with 3GB ram, quad 2ghz, but still being let down by low-end graphics card it came with (Gefore 8400 GS).

I set the game screenshots to 'large', and they tend to look better after I shrink them down, due to auto anti-alias in the paint program I use. Print screen doesn't seem to work reliably, but you can use 'c' key to take pics, as in The Sims 2.

As for the internet, I was able to verify the game and all that on my dial-up, but browsing the online part of Sporepedia is very slow, and uploading my own stuff is very hit-and-miss. Of course, that could be due to server problems right now.

Just to continue my critter's path to civilization:

One generation survived meteor showers, epic creatures and a UFO encounter (saw another friendly lion-man species being abducted, but none of my guys :) )

Dunno what these ruins where. Only found one of them on the continent:

The game chose one of my earlier creations for an epic, I thought it looked cool!

Last generation before going to the tribal phase:

I enjoyed spending several hours on the creature phase just exploring the continent, after I'd 'won'. I was still finding new species I hadn't met before. I allied several 'rogue' creatures, they were good in fights.

My peaceful tribe is attacked by GoodGame's Bowsertops!

Just on "the ruins" that you said you didn't know about, they are crop circles. There's a space phase mission to put crop circles on blah blah planet. :)

I know that is totally awesome, because I had crop circles and was wondering what they did, (The answer is nothing.) But that's totally sweet that you saw some of them in creature stage.

Daft, I suppose I shouldn't be surprised, but your creations are brilliant and beautiful!

Crop circles, awesome :D I thought it might have had something to do with the UFO. I found it after the UFO had been, so maybe the UFO created it?

@Lord Iggy, thanks  I can say the same about you. I really like your Hydralisk and Penguiskan especially! :)

Daft, I hope you're uploading those beasts of yours. :)

Hey guys! Look what I found. :D

Spoiler :
earth.jpg

Speaking of which, is there anyway to start a new game that isn't one of the planets available at the start?

This is the general location of Earth. Just look for the Sol star system.

Spoiler :

As for species, it had become a T1 planet I guess from all the global warming. :D But I terraformed it and implanted it with a human like species.

Also my holographic Corvid's powersuit. :D

That Earth map is going to be slightly difficult to follow... :p How are we meant to know which spiral arm it's in, when the galaxy can rotate around?

Do you get different planets to play on than me? Just look at the main menu and use the available games as a reference!

You get different planets. It's a "random selection".

Okay maybe this will be better;

Spoiler :
earth-galaxyfeatures.jpg

The red lines are unique features of the galaxy (unless the galaxy is randomized too) that you can follow. And the yellow is the whereabouts of Earth in relation. Hope that helps!

@ leonel, nice work! Though Earth does seem to have shrunk quite a bit :) The Corvid looks like a cool race.

In my game I've now reached the civilization phase.

Was about to finish off a hostile tribe of Bowsers when this UFO showed up. I ran into the forest but it left me alone. My tribe leader took this as a sign from the sky god to continue the war.

I managed to ally all the other tribes.

I started as a religious city, and spent a lot of time designing things, only to find they don’t really show up in the game. Detail is really scaled down for this part of the game, although kinda cool when zoomed out.

Can’t say I’m enjoying this stage as much as the others. It’s like a bad copy of W40K: Dawn of War, with little relevance to the earlier stages, and its just odd. I keep getting destroyed by a hostile military power on my continent. It hurts more because I managed to get through the tribal phase without losing a single dude!
