That's the thing--we can't possibly know what would have happened if you had been in charge. Maybe the companies would be doing far better right now if you were.
We only know what was done. And it was pretty much inevitable, because with the country already in an economic panic, Obama simply couldn't allow a big and highly visible company such as a Big Three automaker to collapse. Would've been really bad for his already-dicey chances at getting re-elected.
