So which is more addictive, Civ4 or WoW?

meh, don't let him get under your skin acidsatyr. Look at the content of his posts on this thread and decide from there whether or not his opinions are founded on anything. No point in debating anything when opinions are already formed and aren't going to change anytime soon.
 
i agree scrap WoW.........
it maybe an alright game but the attention and effort other ppl put into the game is just plain stupid!
what do they achieve???
atleast in Civ you can make a Mod and ppl will remember you :)

I played WOW from launch till a bit before the expansion, and was raiding high level with a very serious guild 6 days a week. Now Ive stopped I enjoy not having such high commitment. MMORPG's just suck your life away.

In the short term I find civ4 more addictive, but I guess my interest in WOW has worn thin. PVE in WoW takes little to no skill. Its just who you know and how many hours you put in.
 
I played WoW until I got one character to 60. That was before any expansion or new levels. The game play gets to be repetitive after a while, especially raiding for gear. Even the PvP gets old eventually. The only things about it that are truly dynamic are the social aspects. It's about the only way some people have to interact with other people on a regular basis. It’s sad but true. For that reason WoW is obviously the more addictive of the two.
 
Hip-hop may make you sterile. (meh not really) But it will also get you laid more often than rock. Hip-hop has rythm which can help present 'the mood'. And I am not talking about "Do your chain hang low" or any other rediculous hip-hop. Listen to "Loosen up my buttons" or something and you will score faster than having some dude blaring on the guitar and screaming about how life is so hard like a 5 year old tantrum.

I listen to both and hip-hop is the best thing to have on around women plus it is groovy. I don't always feel like giving the world the finger and/or shouting about injustice. Sometimes, I just want to have a good time and 'feel the rythme of the music', which you can't do to alot of rock.

That sums up alot of games. It is also the reason I tend to enjoy pvp more personally. The problm with pvp in most games is that there is imbalanced factors that make people need the 'uber setup' where one class with this on always beats this, that, and this, etc. That is why I stick to Guild Wars and Silkroad myself - mostly balanced pvp with very little BS (wasted hours for no reason) inbetween.
 
Civ4 without a doubt. I played WoW for about a week and I got to level 20 before it ended up like my other MMOs (I start falling asleep in the middle of a fight.) however with Civ 4. I have to stay alert >.> or its death X.x
 
comparing WoW with Civ is like comparing a bigmac with a home made giant burger from the pub next door: a lot more people will take the first one because they don't know the second one is better.
months of WoW have left me nothing, while I can see what Civ gives you, beside raw fun.

(by the way, rock isn't about mad people screaming their anger or frustration. that's the stereotype of hard rock, which -luckly- is only a minor branch. At least, I dare say songs by Velvet Underground or Jam have *a little* more content. I wouldn't talk about "rhytm" when a song never changes tempo and is a continous repetition of itself, with cheesy words flowing on a plain musical background...)

thats the worst stereotype about rock ive ever heard. hip hop music doesnt not have soul. only soul music has soul, and thats a par off from blues, from which all rock n roll came from. how can listening to some highpitched squirrel club rendition of some 70s classic be better than the actual band at Woodstock or somewhere. birthplace of 'make love not war' im pretty sure alot of the former was being done do Jimi hendrix and the like.

i still think Civ is more addictive. one more turn syndrome compared to 'level up once more' or what not.. one more turn is instant, hit the button and its that next turn with a lot of new things happening, 'leveling up', or whatever i assume takes time with special spells being casted and runes collected and whatnot.

First off, I am not classifying all rock. I am talking about new rock. Emo BS glorifying pity parties for yourself and suicidal tendancies. Turn on MTV and most rock today is either about rage or injustice in the system. Not all of it is. I personally like Audioslave, Godsmack, Korn, Nickelback, Metallica (old AND new), etc. However these styles are not what is hyped up alot. Korn is still in the hype but fading. Metallica is at legend status so no hype is needed. The new styles being promoted are emo BS about people unable to handle problems in life, bottling it up and then freakin spazzing out.
For instance, I honestly don't see the big deal about slipknot. They can't sing, instrumentals aren't harmonic except slightly, etc. And WTH is up with System of a Down? Their instrumentals are freakin awesome but their lead singer sucks anus. He can be good at times but he has no idea what rythme is, or has Rythme Deficit Disorder. I think shock value is what sells their records. Mudvayne has talent but doesn't use it all that much. Basically though, it isn't hard to see rock taking a turn into the classification of "depressionist/anti-social behavior music".

Although, I peg you as a classic rock guy I would bet. Nothing wrong with classic rock, it is pretty good. Ozzy falls into that category and we all know Ozzy is awesome. One thing to consider though is that alot more people that listen to hip-hop are open minded enough to listen to rock. A very large amount of people I have met throughout my entire life that listen to rock will NOT listen to hip-hop and (not aiming at anyone here) tend to be racist. My point with that is rock listeners can be very close minded people.

Besides, I still stand by my original statement that hip-hop will help out in the sexy category more than rock will. Chicks like dancing, not banging their heads or jumping around.

2 things:

#1) (Bolded part) If someone would rather listen to hip-hop wouldn't that automatically make it the best in their eyes? :confused:
#2) It isn't the best if we are comparing Dr. Dre to Van Halen. Or 2pac to Rush. Death Row was the pwnz0r! (lol some people probably see that as blasphemy which is sad)


P.S. Civ is more addicting. But not more addicting than Silkroad Online currently. :p
 
my anger stemms from 'Dj Paul and his incredibly fast and high pitched rendition of some Lynyrd Skynyrd Classic' and then people listen to it and thinks its a WHOLE KNEW SONG, yet its been around for like 30 years and is well known, just now its modernized with fast paced, stupid bass its a whole knew song to jive to. MAKES. ME. MADD

i play DragonRaja Online....it dont compare to WoW but its simplicity is cool. also the guild wars in Zepern nation are totally realistic lol
