so why cant I nor my friend host a game?

so he makes a game and I cant see it and I do the same and he cant see it.

It has worked in the past, but it seems to be voodoo magic if it actually works. I dont know what else to say. I have enabled the slots, but it still says AI on them, is that the difference? If so, it doesnt give me an option to make it a player slot.

so voodoo magic aside, how do I or my friend host in civ multiplayer so we may place once more?

You must be in the same lobby. If you want to make this easier, one of you should host a game and simply invite his friend via steam.

Yes steam uses a regional latency filtered games list, so if you are not in the same area you won't see each others games. Dumb design but nothing we can do about it. But like Tabarnak said you can just click on his name in your steam friends list and invite him to your game. Or if you are in a steam chat room, like the CivPlayers chat, you can do the same thing by clicking on any player in the player list.
