Hi everyone,
I was recently searching through these forums for an answer to a problem I was having with both Civ IV, and Col2. I was already fairly confidant that it was a driver issue, but wanted to see if I could find any other solution here. Since I didn't, I wanted to share my fix in case anyone else is having the same problem.
My PC Details:
IBM NetVista w/P4 @2.8GHz, 2 GB RAM, Win XP Pro., ATI Radeon X850.
As a general rule I do my best to install the latest drivers for all my hardware, which I guess is why this solution is so difficult for me to come to terms with.
A little while back I updated my GPU driver. Civ IV and Col2 stoped working properly. I would get strange triangular balck shapes which emmenated from the centre of the screen. It made the games impossible to play. Unfortunately I didn't take note of my driver version before I updated it. After many attempts to find an older driver that would run the game properly, I finally found it: 8.12 I don't know what ATI changed which caused the problem, but none of their Radeon drivers after 8.12 (9.1, 9.2, 9.3, 9.31, 9.8, 9.11, & 10.2 so far) will work for me.
I hope anyone who also has (hopefully had) this problem, finds this helpful.
