(Solved) Vox Populi installer does not work and looks for drive that doesn't exist

Hi

I'm trying to install Vox Populi and the installer does not work as it is looking for Civ 5 in my D drive for whatever reason. I used to have civ 5 installed in that drive ~1 year ago, but the drive was corrupted and so I have reinstalled everything onto my C drive instead. However Vox Populi refuses to look at anything other than the D drive and there is apparently no way for me to change this in the installer.

Vox populi is looking for D:\Steamlibrary etc. when my Civ 5 is installed in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam etc.

I get an error saying that it is trying to create the file EUI_0.Civ5Pkg in the DLC folder of the D drive which does not exist.

I have all DLC and have previously had vox populi working before I reinstalled civ 5 on the new drive.

I don't understand why I can't just direct it to look in the C drive in the installer. Why are there no options for this?

Is there any way to fix this so I can play the game?

Thanks

Fixed by plugging in a usb drive, calling that usb drive Drive D and then running the vox populi installer. I then copied the files that the installer created on the usb D drive into the civ 5 folder on the C drive.

I can't believe I had to do something this hacky PURELY because the installer for this mod does not come with an option saying "this is where civ 5 is installed". You know, like every other installer ever made???

I'm glad I finally got it to work, but come on. This could have been so much simpler.

Hope this helps anyone in the future that has the same problem anyway.

Just to add to this, I found a piece of software called CCleaner that supposedly cleans the registry of errors. Not sure if that would solve the problem too, but that's worth a shot. I'll look into fixing it that way if I need to reinstall Vox Populi.

This is an unpaid, volunteer mod project. The utter tone of entitlement coming off of your post is absurd.

Having said that, the installer is also, to my understanding, based on a free solution. It is not ideal, however you seem to have solved it fairly quickly without assistance.
I hope you don't look every gift horse in the mouth. Good lord.

We don't pay for a certificate-based installer because that costs money.

The installer looks at your registry to find where civ is installed - if you don't have it installed where your registry says it is loaded (or your registry is empty), it defaults to C. My guess is you moved civ over manually instead of installing to C in the first place.

Yeah sorry if I sounded a bit rude. Just frustrated with the process since it took me over an hour of problem solving to try to get that sorted. I do still think that the installer should be modernised to make this easier though, since this was a very annoying bug to deal with. In regards to what you are talking about the registry; the hard drive I was using for the D drive failed and so I had to reinstall civ 5 on to the C drive through steam. I didn't move any files since I couldn't access anything on that hard drive anymore. I'm not technologically savvy enough to know why that wouldn't update the registry.

hadn't you customized your path/folder of your civ, this will not be a problem and as easy as click click click.

I am so sorry that my SSD didn't have enough space for my video games and I had to move them to my hard drive. I am just so so sorry that this happened and that the installer didn't take into account that maybe some people own more than one hard drive.

I really hope you can find it in you to forgive me for owning more than one hard drive. I just want you to know how absolutely sorry I am for daring to change where I install a file.

Oh gosh. I hope you can forgive me. I really am so unbelievably sorry :'(

CCleaner is pretty great. Doesn't sound like it would fix your problem, but that's a pretty handy tool.
