Some BTS questions

Good day,

Just started to play BTS for a week now. Really like the new civs, corporation and stuff. I have some questions ?

1. Why, sometimes, all the deals you have with leaders are resetted, without any explanations ? Has it something to do with a new tech discovered or anything ?

2. Is there a problem with the fight system ? Just last game, I lost 7 fights in a row and I had the edge regarding the probabilities (something like 8 to 7). That really hurts. In Warlords, having the advantage over another unit, even slight, resulted in 90% victory probability. Have they tighten it up ?

3. About corporations, other than give my Civ specific advantage, is there any other advantages to them ?

Sorry, english is not my primary language

1. I fear this has to do with the apostolic palace, and its members voting a trade embargo against you.
2. Not at all, you just had a streak of bad luck.
3. Too much things to say about corps, and I'm not the best one to talk about this. You can look in the forums, there are plenty of threads about corps.

AnyKeys,

I confess that my experience with BtS is still pretty limited - I've just not played enough games with it yet, however further to JujuLautre's comments;

1. Some additional reasons may include; there may have also been a move by another 'third party' tribe requesting that your trading partner cancel the deal, they may have lost the resource thanks to a war or border change, or as you say some of the later technologies obsolete; Whales, Fur, and Ivory.

2. I have had the exact thing happen to me ... seven 50%+ fights lost in a row. It felt like more, but I went back to the combat log and counted. It seems 'fishy' to me too, but then again I've had strings of Catapults withdraw from combat much more frequently than they should have too at the other end of the spectrum.

3. Spreading Corporations into other nations will help your coffers considerably. Slightly different to spreading a religion to improve your shrine income, but not completely dissimilar.

1)I agree this is probably the Apostolic Palace severing trade deals with embargos. Third party wars are another possibility, but are less likely, as they tend to be more gradual as trade links are destroyed.

2)The fight system has been rigorously tested by many people - the combat odds given are correct. Occasionally you're going to be unlucky. People tend not to remember when they win at long odds (plus the human player rarely attacks at very long odds anyway).

3)Corporations can, with care, be used to make both large amounts of gold, and generate additional food/hammers/gold/science/culture, or even resources. Caution does have to be exercised in their use if you are not running Solver's official patch, due to high maintenance costs, but even then they can be very powerful.

The details of this are a bit beyond a basic response. I've written a guide to corporation use if you're interested - just click the link in my signature.

I started a thread on this a couple of weeks ago asking the same question--a lot of other people said this happened to them too. But no-one could really give a clear answer as to what happened. Apostolic Palace, Privateers, etc were all discussed, but I still believe (like a lot of the other guys) that it was a bug of some sort. Just very annoying, because a lot of the deals can be reinstated on the next turn.
