1. Is the only way to defend against bombers SAM Sites??

2. When do global warmings happen??

3. Is there a way to fully restore after global warming??

defend with airplanes .. they will automatically sorty to intercept the bomber.

global warming happens when you have too many polluted squares. land can be restored but its more work than you want to go through. global warming hurts your rivals as much as it hurts you but it will impact your final score badly so avoid it at all costs.

A fighter (stealth and normal) will provide quite good protection against bombers. SAM will increase that protection. I also assume that fortified vet mech. infs. will provide good protection too. You can also have a fighter close by to kill hte bomber once it has killed your unit.

Stay out of global warming unless you just want to know what it looks like. It really screws up everything.:(

SAM sites work better than fighters unless you can afford several of the fighters. The SAM unit is always ready and supports any other defending unit. The fighter is only good until it is destroyed.

Vet mech inf are in deep trouble if your attacking planes are vet stealth bombers. The only real defense against vet stealth bombers are vet stealth fighters and vet aegis cruisers.

And, to round out the above:
2. According to the CivII MGE manual, global warming can occur whenever there are 6 or more polluted squares on the map, although in practice, it doesn't usually happen until pollution gets really out of hand (I'd say 10 squares or more). Of course, once it does happen, you're SOL. If you're not keen on counting the number of polluted squares manually, once you start getting polluted squares, a little yellowish circle thingy shows up on your city screen (next to the science beaker thing). Once that circle starts getting bigger, time to bust out the Engineers...

1) Vet fighters are OK, and they are available before SAM. The problem is that rushbuilding a fighter from an empty box is costly:
105g for the first 3 rows + 25g for each of the following 3 rows = 180g. You had better plan building many airports and incrementally rushbuild your fighters in advance.

2) IIRC global warming cannot appear before that 9 squares are polluted at the same time. This can be avoided if you keep a team of 'engineers-cleaners', except in case of massive nuclear war.

3) No: too much work, even for huge numbers of engineers at work. One solution: crush those ugly nuke builders and do it at once :rocket:

About the only "advantage" of global warming is that all of the polluted squares get cleaned up! :crazyeye: :D
