Well, this is an old favorite that's made its way back into Civ. A few thoughts:
* The City States being on the new world side means the pace is slower because there are less lucky CS's to inflate your early yields. This balances things quite a bit. But obviously it's harder to cook a map which I don't have a problem with.
* The large reward for meeting these CS's means naval power and exploration is much more meaningful though I guess you could just float land units over to explore anyways.
* Of course, if you start in land and don't have ports, you'll have to fight over them. It's still better to start inland though.
* There is one problem, and you can also just play it like a more cramped Pangaea and simply kill everyone off with no exploration needed. At least the Ai seems a bit better at military.
So it would seem the best experience for this map would be to have either less AIs or play one size bigger than usual.
