Hi, I have recently begun work on my first scenario. It is about the Great Northern War 1700-1721. I know there are at least 2 other scenarios out there about this war but I found them disappointing.

Anyway I got some questions:

Some units can not be built by the AI. I dunno why, but some, not all units are unavailable to the AI even though the prerquisites are fine. However whenever I am the player I can build the units.

For some reason I can not "Force government" of AI civs. I have to switch to those civs to change their government.

I am using Civilization 2: MGE v1.3

Requests:

I am looking for the flags of the Prussia, Hannover, Saxony, Denmark and Poland.

The flags should be the ones used in 1700.
Or if the Polish and Danish flags are the same as they are now tell me because I have those.

Also I need a a nice Jannisary unit. However not the barbaric kind of Jans I see armed with spears. But one with a rifle. I can't find one that seems right.

Also does anyone know the main uniform colour of Saxony in 1700.

The first one- Can you see the units in the selecting menu when you "reveal entire map" and look in an AI city? And sometimes the prerequisites when you are using "user tech def" techs can get wierd... (or is that just me?)

The second one- As far as I know there is no way around this:( But the good thing is if you press Control-N before switching civs the one you are moving FROM won't move any units. But you should try to move in civ color order, otherwise the AI will ruin your precious work;)

Well I may not be much help but others will help you out with better advice :)

No you can not see the units in the AI cities. That's how I am sure the AI is unable to build them.

And most of the units are not used by the tech you mentioned.

Also this unit problem occurs in every scenario I play. However it seems to somehow depend on the rules or something else. Because in the same scenrio but loading a different rules file (unchanged prereq for the unbuildable unit) and the unit is suddenly buildable. I noticed this playing Red Front.

You are probably using the knight and musketeer slot which messes up the units that CAN be built. Check the reference section for more details.

Note this is different from the case where the AI is UNWILLING to build units (like units in carrier or warrior slot).

Kobayashi is right, probably knight and musketeer slot "bug"
but it can also be a slot or a "power" bug. i've made scenario where i was sure that it can be k&m or power bug, changing slot or give 3 instead of 2 deplacement pts to the units may resolve your problem.

ToT has a big advantage on MGE, we can quickly test scenarios
(no human player) and with F2 verify if IA build or ignore units.

Ahhh thank you for the info. I believe you are right.

What do you mean? Even FW let alone MGE can play without a human. Is F2 special in ToT - like you can see all the units being built by all the races at once?

the danish flag looks exactly like the one today. I think it's the oldest flag ever made for a country. poland had another flag back then.

damn i made all my scenarios with FW and that "no-human player" option was very slow (show all combats) so i believe that MGE was like FW... but no, MGE "no human" is as quick as ToT's one

Actually, I think Denmarks flag is the oldest national flag around!

I've attached an old polish flag bellow (I cannot guarantee that its the one used in the great nordic war though, but I think it was)

Also, if you haven't seen it allready, check out Vegards Great Nordic War scenario available at my site.
