Something desperately needed in multiplayer

Sorry if this has been mentioned before. I took a long break from this Conquests forum...

Anyway, I think it is incredibly annoying that multiplayer games don't have the normal amount of pop-ups. And before you ask, no, I do not have the option "show fewer pop-ups" on (and I have the latest patch). Even with that option off, it doesn't have the "pop-up" phase at the beginning of each turn. I'm pretty sure it doesn't have any pop-ups at all. Instead it shows messages at the top-left corner of the screen, which go away fairly quickly. And it also doesn't tell you when you've completed researching a tech.

Who in the wold decided to do it this way? If this way is easier to program (which it might be, but I doubt it), I sorta undertand. Or pop-ups might cause problems with MP; who knows. But if there wasn't much of a reason, this is a terribly dissapointing flaw that keeps multiplayer from being the best it can be. If it weren't for this, MP would be awesome. But because of it, it can get annoying. If someone thought this would make it go faster, he/she/they are terribly mistaken. Maybe in the early game, where you only get a couple messages a turn, and clicking from pop-up to pop-up is annoying, but after a while when you have a good sized empire and things are happening left and right, you don't want to spend 10 minutes looking at every city to make sure it's okay, when you could be spending 2 minutes answering the pop-ups.

PLEASE fix this, Firaxis! Otherwise, PTW is a great game. But you can make it one of the best games ever in the history of the universe with this one little fix! I've heard that Conquests has better multiplayer. Well, this feature BETTER be in there. :)

WillJ, you are totally right! It is nerving, i can´t look so fast, if i have over 100 cities. It has something of a realtime game (baaahhh). Firaxis has done better in Alpha Centauri with the MP!
 
Ok, I an definately buying C3C,-no hesitation.:goodjob:

However my main fun from Civ3 comes from my muliplayer sessions on a 3 PC Lan set up. We play Civ3 in the 'Grande' manner, the traditional way, the ONLY ;) way in which CIV3 should be played:in a slow, deiberate, strategic, considered,turn based manner, and it is GREAT FUN!! but;-
Why oh why, can the informative and reasssuring pop-ups, and autocentering on battles not be included as option for mulitiplayer? Surely as the code is already in the single player game; is it not an easy coding job to enable this option for the mulitplayer?

I would be grateful for any info on why this has not been implemented.

(Still, it is a great game!) :)
 
It would be nice if i could set the round timer to the time i want for one round and not only slow, medium and fast.
 
Of course this is desired (and Firaxis has been told about it repeatedly since before PTW was released).
 
Thanks for the confirmation Warpstorm, >I thought that you may have raised this issue with Firaxis from reading previous comments of yours.

I dont mean to complain, honest I don't:) But as I havent seen an Atari or Firaxis comment on this topic, do you have any idea why they havent implemented/re-instated this feature? Is it more difficult to program than I think?

(BTW I did send a detailed e-mail to Firaxis a few months ago about this topic, but have yet to recieve a reply)

Any clarification would be appreciated!
