Heres another silly thing I did.
One time I found a listing of newspapers in PDF, with no search function. You all know the work on my site. So anyways I was downloading each newspaper one by one and searching them individually. Then I realized "What the hell am I doing?," use DownThemAll to grab the whole bunch (don't worry, I put a cap on it so I wouldn't swamp the server.), and went through them with dngrep and put anything that looked interesting into a subfolder to go through in better detail after. (I did come up with some good articles so it wasn't a complete waste.)
Speaking of swamping servers, I did accidentally do that once. I was using WinHTTrack to download an old Geocities site some years back and then I triggered the hourly bandwidth thing... Multiple times. I wasnt very smart.
