It's official. Needlemouse's real name has been revealed to be nothing other than Sonic 4. I bet all the Classic junkies shall have a raging hardon over this, but as much as I hate them, I think I will nonetheless appreciate this while I wait for the 2011 game.

I think this will help capture the old school market and also pull in some of the older people as well. Perhaps Sonic, combining the best of Old School and Next Gen, shall dominate the world anew?

Sad, I had hoped at least one person would be enthused about this. :(

I read that the game will be released in an episodic form, and that each one will roughly be the length of one Mega Drive game.

That would make sense; the trailer says "Episode I" at the end of Sonic 4's title, so I wonder where they will take this...

At the very least, it'll help them corner the old school market, greatly increasing their profit margins. Between the old school gamers and next gen gamers(who can probably stop fighting eachother now that each one will have a series to like), I wouldn't be surprised if Sonic is on top of the world yet again!

Official website!

SEGA's going to be releasing goodies until the game's release this Summer, as can be seen by the fact certain sections have timers on them... timers until they're opened up, I'd imagine.

Check out the story and the concept art sections.

One question I want to know is: will there be any voices whatsoever for this, or will they truly be Classic style(As classic as you can get with Sonic's Next Gen design, anyway) with no voices or cutscenes? I imagine there won't be any cutscenes at the very least, though you never know with one-liners, which they've used in other mostly-2D games.

Well, just as it says on their News bit on the website, people have been asking for a classic sonic game (Sonic 4) since Sonic 3 and Knuckles. I was one of them, unfortunately I don't have an XBOX :( .

Sonic is a dead, well one of the MANY dead or soon to be dead Nintendo series to be dead. Pokemon is another, and so if Link.

Thank you for contributing absolutely nothing constructive to this thread, and instead being a basher. Now...

Sonic is a dead

You can't be dead if you're making profits and still getting merchandise. Just because he's not as popular as he used to be =/= dead. Try again.

, well one of the MANY dead or soon to be dead

I should reference doomsday theories, but I won't. What do you have to back up this assertion?

Nintendo series to be dead.

Sega is not Nintendo's dog, despite what everyone says. They're not even a third party developer for Nintendo anymore. If they were under Nintendo's thumb, they'd stop producing anything for anything outside Nintendo's consoles.

Pokemon is another, and so if Link.

Pokemon, like Sonic, has many hardcore fans and so can never really die.

...Did you just say Link is going to die too? LINK? As in, fairy boy, blonde-hair, Ganon-slaying Link?

...I'm not even going to bother. :shake:

Anyway, this thread is to discuss the game, and possibly it's impact on the series as a whole. Not to call Sonic a dying franchise.

You want a "dead" franchise, try Crash Bandicoot(not to sound like a hater, I have played the games and liked them). Sonic's still going strong, even if he's not the hedgie that Genesis humpers like to remember.
