sound effects delayed

It seems like all the effects in the game, including the menus, have a half a second pause before any sound is played. Has anyone encountered a similer problem? Running windows XP with all the latest drivers.
 
Having the same problems,

Athlon XP 1800+, Windows XP, SB Live 64, Civilization III 1.29f (single player)


Sound effects are all delayed half a second or so. EXTREMELY annoying and detracts from the gameplay severely.

Any solutions to this?
 
Ok, now I have a COMPLETELY new system (P4) with all new hardware.


THIS PROBLEM CONTINUES TO PERSIST. ANYONE?! HELLO?!
 
It's about time I seen a thread on this problem. I've been having this issue since Cvi3 first came out.

My specs for those wondering:

AthlonXP 1800+
VIA 266A chipset
WinME
512MB RAM
SB Audigy Gamer
Radeon 9800 Pro

Now that I think about it. I think I had the same problem on my old system when I first got Civ3.

AMD K6-2 450MHz (I think...)
VIA MP3 chipset
WinME
SB PCI64
Radeon PCI 7200
Can't remember how much RAM I had.
 
Yeah I've recently encountered the same problem with all the sound being laggy and distorted. It worked fine on my machine a month ago, but I loaded it up again (I hadn't uninstalled it) and all the sounds were super choppy. I've tried re-installing it but now it freezes as the intro movie loads up!:mad: :confused:

My machine : Intel Celeron 755
Integrated Graphics Chip
512 RAM

Also tried it on my family PC and it works fine:
P4 2.66Ghz
nVidia Graphics Card
768 RAM

It works fine on my brother's PC too (specs in between the other two).

Its so wired :confused: , it worked fine a month ago and I havn't done anything to it since...

Could it be the differnet sound players conflicting with each other...?
 
I'm experiencing this same problem. I can't find a solution on the forum, but maybe someone posted it and it's just not accessable via the Google search for this forum?

AMD Athlon XP 2600+
1GB RAM
SB Live Value 5.12.0001.3300 Full Acceleration
XP SP2
Civ 3 complete, 1.29 patch

Sound is lagged by about a second. Bumping this old thread in the hopes that someone may have a solution?
 
I eventualy solved this problem.

If I remember correctly (it was a long time ago!) I think the problem was directX. Make sure you have the latest version of directX installed (Conquests comes with directX 9b - which is all you need).

I'm pretty sure that after I installed the latest version of directX, it worked fine - how it worked before I have no idea, as I am pretty sure you can't roll back directX.
