Sound Settings - Advice Requests

I have a sound card (w/ 5.1 speakers)which supports EAX. I had been using 5.1 discreet settings and just switched to EAX1.

Has anyone used the other EAX settings? Any recommendations?

I have a 7.1 setup and use EAX4 instead of 7.1 Discrete. I asked a similar question to yours to determine the difference between the two, and the reply I received was that the EAX will allow you to have the environmental effects (which aren't terribly important, I would guess, in Civ4) where the other is the usual surround sound but that there'd be little difference between them otherwise. So, I've stuck with EAX4, as the sound is just fine for what I need/want. For the record, I have an Audigy 2 ZS in my system.

Thanks for the response, I noticed that the center speaker(w/ EAX) had more of the environmental sounds which sounded better than with 5.1 discreet setting, I will try to the higher EAX settings

Heh, I plan on picking up the same card, despite the many...comments to do otherwise.
