I just want to know if Sid has any plains to make new era, maybe call it the space age?

I would not call it the space age. But much rather the Digital/Information Age.

you could just call it "the future" but perhaps that answer is too simple ;)

I don't think we'll see a space age and I certainly don't want to be running around in space, but I hope they include some near future units and/or improvements in the game.
:)

I would count on a spaceship to alpha centauri being in the game, as far as the near future goes.

As far as having an additional age after the modern age, with robots and clone armies and mega-nukes, I'll say NO THANKS. They have a hard enough time making the game fun in the modern age. Another set of "bigger/better/faster" units will probably do more harm to the game than good.

As far as a scenario or mod goes... I'm very open to this.

The latest info says that although there will be 'eras,' tech won't be the basis... so, a 'space age' really wouldn't work under that. I'm thinking 'eras' will be more of the transitional graphics of Civ2, where different techs give your cities and units a different look. Progressive.. I like that...

But I definitely hope they add more to the late game (without adding a buttload of MM). It would be cool to be able to throw spysats into orbit, or use a space-based laser (or something) to fry my enemies.. launch solar or microwave satellites and build ground-based dishes to receive the energy and help drive my economy...

Sorry, got a little off-topic there.

Well I think any "Space Age" stuff that Didn't require an expansion of the map to include multiple planets would fit very nicely in the Modern Age (Space Age might be good as a renaming option for the modern age)

You mean the modern age, starting at 1950, with the most rapid rate of invention ever in human history?

Somehow I don't think they'll need to go to the realm of science fiction to come up with techs for the late game.

Yes a Space Age is essentially 1950 on, and the only 'scifi' techs you would need to add are those that were not developed for diplomatic/political reasons (ie weapon satellites)

Ah. This is a good point, one I often forget.

1950-1990 is often called the Nuclear Age, which might be more appropriate than the arrogant Modern Age.
Actualy, I consider 1980s to the present, the Information Age

At any rate, there are no proper ages in Civilization 4. That seems to be confirmed.

All the same, there should not be a space age -- officially or unofficially. Right now, it's much more important that they improve the second half of the game, which generally starts around 1500 AD. Extending the late game boredom can only do more harm than good, unless they fix that first.

I would like some future in Civ 4. At least some units upgrade with future tech.
For example Future Sea 1 gives each sea unit +1 A and +1 D and so one...

There is no ages anymore...

your kidding right?

And what I mean about the space age is that Sid should make a whole era devoted to the futuristic techs and the city should change style from the modern age to the sapce age! Space age cities... now that would be cool!
